We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I am not sure why this must be the 'real' ark? There already exists a pretty descriptive passage in Genesis that describes how the ark was to be built. Just wondering. Why not rebuild the ark as written in the Bible, which has far more accuracy (multiple copies) than a random bit of clay stored in someone's house.
if you state ye arke is a miracle whose mechanics we don't understand, then no further explanation or defense is necessary or even possible (just like water into wine, real presence or virgin birth although I don't believe ye arke's actual existence is a necessary element of your faith).
if you assert noah, a shepherd, built ye arke as a 450 long unreinforced "barge" in his bronze age shipyard, gathered up the world's biota (under either the chap. 6 or the chap. 7 version, which are inconsistent) and floated out ye floode then one invites torpedoes from the people who wrote up the Torpedo Ye Arke FAQ, some of whom are actual ship builders, mechanical or structural engineers, historians and physicists, including me.
you might also want to explain how "unclean" makes sense in Genesis, since the distinction between "clean" and "unclean" isn't revealed until Leviticus, which occurs later.
that amusement park ark is a big wooden box. ships aren't big wooden boxes. without steel reinforcing, a box that big would hog or sag, meaning it would sink within minutes of launch. the best argument against ye global flood covering mountains is the release of latent heat through precipitation. rain falling at 1 meter per day, as the FAQ puts it, releases enough heat to turn the atmosphere into incandescent plasma.
no on will contest the belief that ye arke was a miracle, but this fake science in an amusement park is, frankly, asshated stupid.

Sorry if you have problems with the ark in the Bible. As I said, the measurement of a 'cubit' has been disputed.
I find it interesting that you are so driven to disprove Noah's ark, but not interested in the scientific principles that are described in the Bible before man ever got around to discovering them.
I am not here to debate. I find it offensive when someone out-and-out ridicules the Bible due to their own issues with Christianity (or Judaism, based on your name).
I'm not ridiculing my faith (hint: Genesis was written by and for us). it doesn't matter how big a cubit is, a wooden vessel big enough to do its task couldn't have been built with bronze age tech or crewed or stayed afloat.
I asked you if you believed in ye arke story as an article of faith, which I respect and wouldn't not debate. you didn't answer, I wonder why. this is what you Christians call "miracles".
but if you want to play maritime engineer, let's have a discussion.
I say "hogwash." I read about this on the History Blog and was taken by their contention that the boat would actually have to have been 3,000 feet across to be large enough. They could barely make this one float and had tremendous structural problems with it. It's a TV show, not reality.
