We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
In 1960, I stood on a cliff here and looked down on a Great White this big as it entered San Francisco. It was heading directly under the Golden Gate. It was later reported to be at least half the size of a submarine. You will have to go to Google maps and type in Sea Cliff, San Francisco, CA
Had one that big come out from under the ship to munch a 6' Marlin off the longline we were recovering. In one, quick bite.
So let that be a lesson to the divers among you, don't be the first one off the boat. And don't dive if the boat operator has let the boat drift for a while, especially in the early morning.
Me I felt safe enough, till I considered the thin sheet of steel between me and that shark. And the condition of the hull.
Had some delicious Mako for dinner once, then a dive off Santa Barbara in the am. I hoped not to see a shark, especially one that might go, "Hey, your breath smells like my wife."
