We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Two memories still fresh in my mind from camping at Cape Cod with some university buddies over 40 years ago:
1. Drinking an ice-cold Bud and eating a carton of fried clams beachside on a hot August afternoon. Nothing in a Michelin guide could have beaten that experience.
2. The free air show we got every few days while lying in our tents, courtesy of the Air National Guard base (was it Otis?).
The air show was probably from the Air Force who used to target-practice on a decommissioned Liberty ship sitting grounded off Eastham in Cape Cod Bay. I remember as a little kid out there in Wellfleet hearing the sounds of the live-fire exercises. I think they stopped in the '70s (?). The ship used to be visible at least at low tide.
