We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
What a co-incidence. I was asked if I could remember this--absolutely, with childlike delight and voice it came from somewhere deep in the soul that learned to depend on this though all of this life.
However, it was at that same conversation that someone pointed out a quote from a famous Montana author "only 2 GD adjectives and no @#$%^&* adverbs! For anyone interested in good writing --there it is! Besides, it is how I was built.

I like the progression from dumb sheep to invited guest to family member. Story of my life. Wm. Barclay had a little story that guests at the end of the banquet were given a last refill. Those that were expected to leave got a half goblet; those expected to stay got a full goblet; those highly honored, their cups were overflowing.
