We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Wasn't it "evidence-based medicine" that foisted off the great and horriblywrong nutritional advice given by physicians to their patients over the past 100 years?
You know, stuff like "carbs are good, saturated fats bad"? Both of which have led the generl population directly to the fat farm and the Alzheimer homes?
And then there's my other favorite:"Supplements are worthless, until they're not; especially when doctors have figured out how to make money from them!"
Bad medical advice is not just in the realm of quacks, it dwells in the halls of medical schools and their associated laboratories, as well. One wears a loud plaid jacket, the other a lab coat! Beneath both lurk the same animal....
