90% of the left's attempts at social control are simply attempt to outlaw behaviors they perceived as favored or engaged in by 'traditional" "conservative" "old-school" "white" etc. people. Thus, a liberal can simultaneously demand that cigarettes be outlawed but marijuana be legalized.

Why? Because (in their conception of social reality) marijuana is a leftist intoxicant favored by the "counter-culture" while nicotine is a right-wing intoxicant favored by the "dominant culture."

"The Man" smokes cigars. "The Rebels" smoke weed.

That's all there is to it.

...It's absolute juvenile revenge fantasy, leftover from the '60s. That's all it is. The younger generation of activist are automatons acting out the revenge fantasies of their professors.

1. the industry survey isn't measuring revenue, it's measuring satisfaction.

2. your stats are intentionally misleading, as no one will surprised to learn.

McDonald's restaurants in the US - 14,267
Chik restaurants in the US (42 states and DC) - 1,850

McDs with almost 8x as many restaurants and all that the economies of scale imply, has only 6x the revenue.

The stats are accurate, and provide another measure of "favorite". A lot of people complain about Walmart, but nearly everyone shops there because of value.

if you think that last place on a customer satisfaction index with declining profits slumping is somehow a measure of popularity or that needing 8x as many stores as a competitor in order to claim higher sales figures is a good thing, then you've having a stroke or are someone who has never run a business, or both.

admit it, you had no idea why McDs revenues were higher than Chik's because you were too lazy to find out or didn't expect to be fact checked.

He doesn't care about McDonald's or Chik-fil-a (or anything of the kind). He's only looking to create the impression that the people who put this site together are wrong.

And it doesn't matter what they're "wrong" about, only that he gets a chance to make them look bad. It really bugs him that people who should know better (i.e., New Englanders) aren't toeing the progressive line, and he can't let that go unaddressed. Can. Not. It's the kind of fastidiousness that would make for especially efficient administrators at places like Kwalliso #22.

Having more stores is a sign of popularity. Perhaps Chick-fil-a will catch up in distribution, but that is not the case today. They have, however, grabbed a major share of the chicken market from KFC.

Re: Cuba. Are companies and small businesses going to get compensated for their losses? Cuba nationalized all business entities and then ruined them. I have a friend whose Father was a doctor and Mother owned a drug store. The doctor was told he had to work for the state and his salary went down over 80%. The Mother had her drug store nationalized but she was required to continue managing it. Within six months there was very little on the shelves and almost no prescription drugs. I'm also in favor of better relations with Cuba but with an ounce (or so) of of fairness.

Virtually no one is advocating outlawing cigarettes. Even among liberals, many only support decriminalization of marijuana. The problem of incarcerating casual users is far more harmful to the individual than the marijuana.

The left doesn't want to outlaw cigarettes - just make them expensive unusable even in places designated for their use like a smoking room. In some places, you can't smoke cigarettes in an apartment because the smoke might find its way to the adjoining apartment. Any bets on similar regulations for marijuana?

Even the Rolling Stone puts the percentage of prisoners for marijuana possession at one percent.

As it is still illegal in most places, the answer is yes. Marijuana smoke can get your door busted down and you arrested.

California SB420 bars marijuana smoking in no smoking zones, within 1000 feet of a school or youth center except in private residences; on school buses, in a motor vehicle that is being operated, or while operating a boat.

"We can only afford two children"--apparently part of the problem is that the two kids are used to the nice home now, and she can't bring herself to uproot them and make them live somewhere cheaper so they can have a new baby brother or sister. So she's out in public mooning about how sensitive and mothery she is, and her "uterus literally aches."

Man, life would be so much easier if we didn't have all these pesky choices. Can't someone sign her up on a government program or something?

So no one wants to outlaw cigarettes which kill millions every year but we are pushing to outlaw CO2 which kills no one and is in fact required to grow plants. Wait a minute! I get it. They don't want to "outlaw" CO2 they want to tax it. Just as they taxed cigarettes, they don't really care about whether or not something is dangerous what they are really doing is creating a socialist nirvana which of course requires a lot of other people's money.
