We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Compare the amount of STEM courses that mechanical engineering graduate Bill Nye has taken with those that Al Gore has taken, and you will understand why Al Gore is the better choice for "this is a scientist?"
"I would suggest that those on each extreme of the political spectrum are bat shite crazy."
I agree. That, I suppose, is precisely why they are on the extremes of the spectrum.
(I generally call those on the left extreme "moonbats" and those on the right extreme "wingnuts". But below the surface, there's a loony commonality to the two, suggesting the spectrum is actually circular.)
