We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I always felt that the Cuban restrictions (especially after the demise of thhe USSR) were kind of silly and problematic. Why should the the US go to such extremes against this backwater fleabag of a government?

Much better to expose Cubans to the potentials of freedom and capitalim; and expose Americans to the reality of communist 'paradise'

That fleabag of a government runs very sophisticated intelligence ops against the US and sells the information to Iran and other enemies. This got lost in the 9/11/2001 activity but Cuba owned US intelligence on Cuba, via Ana Montes, for a decade or more.

But I agree, a few thousand tourists streaming in from Florida would do wonders to educate the Cuban people.

Hmmm....

BLM trying to close a gold mine in Oregon. Mine has been there since 1876. Miners say they have complied with the law and everything is legal. BLM refuses to furnish documentation of any kind supporting their actions.

Shepard Smith reported on Thursday:

The FBI knew one of the gunmen in Sunday’s attack in Texas could be targeting the controversial Mohammad cartoon contest, anti-Islam conference… And they knew it hours before the attack occurred. That comes straight from the FBI director who just moments ago held a closed door meeting with reporters. The FBI put out a bulletin with suspect’s picture before the attack. He said it’s not clear if police in Garland, Texas knew about that bulletin.

I reached out to Pamela Geller Friday morning.
Here is what she said:

Q: Pamela were you notified by the FBI or local officials that terrorist Elton Simpson was heading your way?

Pamela Geller: No, we were not.

Q: Were your security officials notified?

Pamela Geller: No.

Fear of "crying wolf" is not part of their general lexicon. Fear of the repercussions of not notifying public officials should be much greater.

My suspicions lie with higher ups; they've already proven whose side they're on. (and it ain't ours!)

Yes, I agree. But I wonder what lesson Barry Soetoro is taking away from this incident?
Did he hope that a room full of TP/Texan types would spray the environs with lead, hopefully killing a few innocents?

I wonder if as a boy, Barry was the type that liked to stick hornets nests and throw rocks at cars. In this case he must be disappointed.

hilarious, but why should anyone care? schools and kids are getting exactly the Drama / attention they want. while I expect this kind of childish whining from UCLA students, all this is just a game, and I suspect even they know that complaining about "micro aggression" to the managing partner, or to a judge about conduct by opposing counsel, will result in professional humiliation.

the vast bulk of law students are the same avaricious as$hats they've always been.

I would bet good money that right now Liberals and leftists are begging De Blasio to not release this. The left succeeds by hiding what they are not by standing up for what they believe in. This would be a disaster for the left, unless of course it is all lies. I suspect it will be Marxism lite but even then he will have to lie because he is to the far left of Marx. I sincerely hope De Blasio puts out a manifesto that expresses exactly what he believes in.
