Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

As a side point, police are far from the most dangerous jobs. Lumbering, mining, commercial fishing and quite a few others have much higher fatality rates. Even garbage collectors have more risk.

"Law Enforcement Officers Killed Each Year Than Young Black Men By White Cops" is fudge the numbers article. Half as many officers were actually shot to death as the black men they killed.

Most officer deaths are traffic related.

Deaths of suspects by action of officer is an order of magnitude higher than vice-versa, and has been increasing over the last decade.
He is conflating allofficer deaths with deaths caused by conflict with criminals, and while 539 actual shooting deaths of officers in the US over the last decade is 539 too many, we shouldn't lump in every officer death from e.g.: transport-related accidents as if that is relevant.

This is a lie, because they don't include White (racial), Christian (religious) or Heterosexual (sexual). Diversity is defined as other than the above.

So either the 21st-century university is betting that if they get ride of those pesky descendants of Western Civilization they'll be successful or they believe White, Christian, Heterosexuals are best likely to achieve success by abandoning the American universities. I would suppose, especially, if they stop donating to the universities.

Baltimore is a Democrat city...

So are Detroit, Saint Louis, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Newark, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and LA. All places I might visit but I would never live in any of them - even if I could afford to.

Then you have the Democrat states like Maryland, New York, California, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Vermont that are losing population or are in serious decline.

I see a pattern forming...

UA survey: The more one has to try to figure out the question, the worse the answers can be made out to be.

VeetNAM: I distrust the LAT and it's writers. The HNN story seems straight-forward. Communists do not have the people's wishes and desires (mostly to be left alone) at heart.

I am willing to sacrifice myself to be the test case for marriage equality, by filing the first challenge to laws banning polygamy. However, I am going to need at least one enthusiastic co-plaintiff volunteer. In order to put the most positive spin on our case, it would be preferable if she were between 18 and 25 and intellectually and otherwise endowed. The only obstacle I am going to have to overcome is getting the consent of my present spouse.
