We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
If she wants to topple herself, she just might. Dems need a candidate with integrity, regardless of leftiness.
Related: Mrs. Clinton and the 1 Percenters. Nothing against money, but $200 million in the bank and 2 billion in a personal foundation ain't bad for a life dedicated to public service. Dems need a credible candidate.
She's a scam artist like Bill, only not nearly as good at it. Now that we know only 15% of the donations to the Clinton Foundation go to charitable causes and most of the rest goes to travel and salaries, it's pretty clear that it's just a slush fund for all the Hillary!'s political aspirations and a piggy bank for the Clinton family.
You have to hand it to Bill for dreaming up that thing.
As for Hillary!'s promise to take it to the 1% - what a joke. Or does she intend to take it to the rest of the 1% and leave her family and cronies alone?
compared to many "charities", 15% ending up doing actual charitable work isn't even that bad.
Sadly for a lot of them, especially the large ones, that percentage is a lot lower, with massive amounts ending up being spent/wasted on graft, bribes, salaries, luxury vacations for senior staff (masquerading as "fact finding trips", "conferences", etc. on annual statements) and things like that.
Agreed. However most of those "charities" are not run by previous presidents & First Ladies, or presidential candidates who was a Secretary of State who accepted bribes, I mean "donations" from foreign leaders.
While the 15% that actually goes to a charitable cause is, sadly not that unusual, I wonder if the 60% that was classified ad "other expenses" is a little unusual.
It will be interesting to see what changes are made to the foundation's tax returns now that they're being refiled.
She said that she and Bill were flat broke when they left the White House. After having served as Secretary of State, they now have $200,000,000 in the bank. Wonder how much they would bank if she were elected POTUS?
