Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Epa to regulate your shower time in motels.
Then your homes. And your farms. Yet, those trying to harvest rainwater for personal use in some places are fined/arrested. If an hotel opened with a rainwater collection system on the roof, a Japanese Isotope reactor in the basement, management that forswear compliance with any minimum wage guidelines and issued complimentary (loaner) firearms to all adults over the age of 18.
I'd stay there. The article on cooking machines was so brilliant I didn't know whether she was kidding or educating me. I couldn't tell if I should have been nodding my head in agreement or laughing. Good job!
Also, being very poor and living outside a city we had a well but we collected rainwater for such things as bathing and washing clothes. Now I collect it to water the flowers in the yard of my mansion, but since I live in a state that loves freedom I don't think I'll be arrested. "The minimum wage is zero"
There are interns who would disagree. Saw this last night at the [urlhttp://www.adamsmith.org/blog/miscellaneous/the-dark-history-of-the-minimum-wage/]Adam Smith Institute[/url]: QUOTE: “Progressive economists, like their neoclassical critics,” Leonard explains, “believed that binding minimum wages would cause job losses. However, the progressive economists also believed that the job loss induced by minimum wages was a social benefit, as it performed the eugenic service ridding the labor force of the ‘unemployable.’” "The Privilege of Checking White Privilege"
This creates a very hostile prejudice and racial environment in colleges. This is intentional racial harrassment and discrimination. This effort to implement a neo-KKK is contrary to the letter and the intent of Title VI of the civil rights act of 1964. In my humble opinion the colleges better hope some federal judge puts a stop to it before this becomes a class action lawsuit with dozens of attorneys going for big settlements against these schools. I am amazed that lawyers for the colleges or even simple common sense hasn't prevailed to nip this in the bud. This amounts to hateful actions by racist hate groups and needs to be stopped. Jim Bridger was a mountain man (and you can make a very good case Kit Carson was greater, although it would be close).
Buffalo Bill, Phil Sheridan's favorite scout, was probably the greatest plainsman. Re: Dodge Hellcat
This car is a monster! This video includes a Hellcat but features a vet and Jay Leno and is very touching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxhZVZngLjI re EPA
Perhaps some of our betters are beginning to see the light? Hail EPA! Hail Caesar! When You’ve Lost Larry Tribe… “EPA is attempting an unconstitutional trifecta — usurping the prerogatives of the states, the Congress and the federal courts all at once,” he continued. “Burning the Constitution of the United States … cannot be a part of our national energy policy.” http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/03/18/hail-epa-hail-caesar-when-youve-lost-larry-tribe/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter D&G: Too expensive, too Italian for me.
Proper English is what can be understood. Then there's Bafflegab. Slang is supposed to be understood by an in- or out-group. Ebonics, too. Haiti: NYT finds a dictator they don't like! Crimea: "Despite the problems they face, most Crimeans are still glad to be part of Russia, its leaders say." Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So many of these stories; the climate, minimum wage, rainwater collection etc., etc...
All have the same root cause, our own government. Fancy that. As a friend of mine remarked lately, "Our forefathers would be shooting by now." Organisations can make whatever speech and grammar rules they want and call them best. If you want what they have, such as publication in their journals, jobs at their facilities, or subtler things like respect or approval, you will learn to write and speak that way intuitively, even if it was not your mother-dialect.
That's not "correct" in anything other than a practical way, however. Language and grammar change too quickly for rules to hold very long. We like the rules from Aunt Agatha's time and enshrine them with a special cachet. Yet she had her own Aunta Agatha, thought she followed her exactly, but it was not so. No one in America speaks according to The Rules, not even slightly-obsessive persons such as I. Nor should they. Precision and clarity should be the aims. 17 killed in act of "random violence" in Tunisia. Sounds like the victims were mostly tourists.

Phooey. Same old, same old. It is really sad. It is just an excuse to keep the lower classes down by not teaching them how to communicate with the wider world. The explanation of the problem with the garbage peddled by Mr. Kamm is set forth in Bernard Shaw's play "Pygmalion." I am sure that you can find the musical version "My Fair Lady" on most streaming services. |
