Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"All it does is to make membership voluntary. Is that bad? "
What are you pro-choice? The New Yorker has really jumped the shark with their hit piece (no other description fits) on Gov Walker. I wonder why he scares the progressives so much?
I give him a lot of points for doing so much great stuff in a blue state like Wisconsin! I liked Walker already but the more he scares progressives, the more I like him.
Re: Wesleyan U. and LGBTTQQFAGPBDSM
Nowhere in LGBTTQQFAGPBDM is anything about heterosexual. I guess what got them here isn't important to them. Re: public schools, 19th century model, and drones
There is little to say for public schools today. In my opinion, the problem is the influence of the unions and the left. They have thrown out teaching methods that work in favor of goofy lefty theories. As for public schools being from 19th century model - I'd welcome that model today. Kids were taught how to spell, their times tables, history, morals, Western values unlike today when kids are taught they are special, they don't have to do boring things like memorizing anything not to mention the multi-culti/green/collectivist claptrap that is part and parcel of "education" today. If only our kids learned half what kids learned in the past. That being said, I applaud parents who home school their kids. I like innovation in education - as long as actual learning takes place. And I don't think charter schools go far enough as I think there should be a choice of religious charters - better yet, complete school choice. One of the big problems with education now and what school choice, home school, and charter schools are trying to address in different ways and different degrees is to escape educational policy. The larger point is that we are drowning in policy. We are drowning in education policy and our public schools are worse. Just as we are drowning in energy policy and if it weren't for private companies on private land "side stepping" policy, we would be in much worse shape. Yale Study Shows: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Coffee Cup: I do want a cup that tastes like fresh cut grass. My cows will looooooooove it! Multi-Culti: "American" is a state of mind, as well as a legal term. And it's more the state of mind than anything else. Experts Smeared by Media and Greenpeace for Debunking Global Warming: Because it's HERESY and "Bad Thought" and "Deviationism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111!!!!!!!!!!!" Repeat for "I Am Under 'Investigation' ", and "Peril Of Great Causes". NEW YORKER: Skeered to death of Scott Walker. I frankly am surprised I have not yet been rounded up by the Obamunists as a terrorist. It's interesting to see how many potential terrorist groups I have an affinity to.
I have no excuse. I can't help it. For some reason I was raised that way. In fact, I was at a potential terrorist meeting at church last night. We study a seditious book known as the Bible. The story on minimum wage for actors makes you wonder how professional theater groups avoided the wage and hour folks already. Horrible they would have produce proven box office hits to pay their employees.
My read on the arms control folks is they are doing what they can to keep kicking the can down the road until either a new regime takes over in Iran or a US carrier gets sunk by a fishing boat loaded with a small nuke. Hopefully, a smaller military means fewer entanglements in the business of others, e.g. Syria, Ukraine, etc. Thanks for the link. I'm still not sure how to get through your spam filter.

If you are talking about the spam filter taking out a comment with an embedded link, here is how to do beat it: Never have the link at the end of your comment. Have some verbiage after the link. No. It won't let me do a simple "+1" reply, which is often all that needs be said.
Climate Change: This is a scandal of biblical proportions.
A scandal that few to none will ever see. I read the comments at the Telegraph.com. Amazing on a story essentially about scientists and their organizations (that are funded because they pump AGW) changing the data until it fits their existing theories that so many commenters are dismissing the entire article because it's not written by reputable climate scientists. |
