We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Besides the tax subsides what I don't understand is the reliance on rare earth elements. We only very recently began to mine and refine beryllium and lithium used in the Telsa. These mining and refining processes are the very antithesis of "Green". Large sums of money are still flowing to China for many of the exotic materials used in the electric motors and batteries.
Gasoline comes from oil. Of which we are currently floating in. From here, in the USA.
Which is why government shouldn't be trying to pick winners or the direction of technology. They are not very good at it.
