We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
As regards the FCC and FEC, complaints about their acts to regulate the internet miss the mark. This is a problem that transcends the FEC and FEC. It goes to the heart of our system of government. Art. 1 Sec 1 of our Constitution provides that “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress . . .” In other words, no law should ever be passed but by the affirmative vote of our elected representatives. Yet now we live in a world where unelected regulators, people not subject to the ballot box, are responsible for the vast bulk of the legislation being promulgated in our nation. It is legislation that goes under the heading of “regulation” that comes with the equal force of law. And it is legislation that is transforming this nation on a fundamental level.
The FEC is but one example. Another even clearer example is the EPA, whose regulations are costing our nation hundreds of billions of dollars to address carbon dioxide and other green house gasses. An attempt was made by the left to authorize this action through legislation in the first two years of the Obama administration, when the left controlled the House and the Senate. Congress refused to pass the laws. With that, the EPA simply unilaterally declared GHG’s a pollutant and proceeded to pass all the regulations that they wanted anyway.
Today, we are a socialist technocracy, one that far more resembles the EU than it does the form of government written into the Constitution by our Founders. The left will continue to work fundamental changes to our nation until the system itself is corrected. No regulation should ever go into effect that has not been the subject of an affirmative vote by our elected representatives. Period.
Sadly, this is not a new situation. We've been governed by regulators for decades and it's only gotten worse. Pubbies have been unable or unwilling to turn it around. Reagan vastly reduced the number of regulations but the number of regulations is only the symptom. The ability of the bureaucracy to spawn those regulations the real problem.
The goal to better integrate Muslims into Denmark society is a worthy goal, but if you integrate terrorists, you're instituting the disease of jihad. The idea that lack of jobs or education is the cause of jihadism is just a way of fooling yourself. It's like the lefty position that people are normally good and when they go bad, it is because of some problem of society, but people are not normally good, they are raised and/or inspired to be good and likewise with people being bad.
No doubt Obummer will welcome this idea at their radical social media conference. Just like his entire presidency, that will be lunacy on parade.
Chomsky believes everything non-Americans and liberal Americans say about themselves and their own motives, and disbelieves everything that nonliberal Americans say about their own motives.
Once you've done that 2+2=5 for some people and 2+2=3 for others exercise, then you can prove anything, no matter how ridiculous. It doesn't matter how much intelligence you have in other areas at that point. Your basic assumptions dictate your conclusions.
