We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

It is a mystery to me how you could be sooooo in love that you must marry but decide to "walk away" if your partner doesn't propose. Either I am old fashioned or confused but marriage should be about love, shouldn't it? Love that hurts when you aren't together and makes you warm and cuddly when you are together. How can that possibly devolve into "my way or the highway"? My advice is: man or woman if you are considering this path then do yourselves a favor and walk away because it isn't love it is a plan that you are following blindly. And for anyone, man or woman whose partner is considering this, walk away because your love is unrequited and your marriage will be a series of ultimatums until you simply fail to live up to whatever your partner believes is perfect.
