Dodd-Frank: The damage to small, regional, and agricultural banks was predicted from the getgo. As a counter measure to prevent "too big to fail", it is a joke. It had to have been intentional.
My personal favorite for more useless paper shuffling is "3T&G"(aka conflict minerals); it too is a nightmare for small companies. In this case, they were too clever, by half, and didn't mandate it for small companies. Instead, the companies, who report to the SEC, are the enforcers; they flow the requirements down through the supply chain. And, it has been reported, that the very activities, that 3T&G was intended to curtail in Africa, have spread to South America.

Moynihan was brilliant in his analysis of many of our social (and other) problems. "Defining deviancy down" pretty well sums up the country over the last 40-50 years.
What I have against him is that he sat there in the Senate for 24 years voting for precisely those programs he knew were catastrophic in their consequences. Why?.......he liked being a Senator from NY.

Culminating in his endorsement for Hillary's Senate campaign that he really didn't want to make. He made it anyway. He was a Demoncrat after all.

He recognized the problem but had no spine at all with stopping the taxpayer subsidy of a degenerate culture that shows itself nationally....the latest being Ferguson. The price tag for the subsidy more than equals the national debt, but the war goes on and more cannon fodder is fed into the grinding degeneracy.

Here's one of the really bad guys! You know the type:
blindly obedient to the women in charge of the WA State teacher's union. As they moved into MT they forced this guy into the job he now holds. Not to worry under threat of being accused of rape most white men local to the state stepped down, or "lost" an election. MT male judges, teachers, post masters, sheriffs, etc. have been brutally replaced in the last five years by outsiders put in place by the WA state machine. That guy gives writers a bad name. I got about 4 paragraphs in before deciding life was to short to read such pompous writing.

But after decades of presenting the Maplethorpes and that guy who painted the Campbell soup can as serious artists, of blighting our urban cores with ugly art by giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to each other, of presenting the bad poet du jour at inaugurations, and what has subsumed the label of Humanities, who can blame people for thinking maybe we need a break and concentrate on important things.

History shows us that good, lasting art is rare - maybe less than 10%. It also shows us that government subsidized art is almost always in the other 90%.

Our walls are covered with works by 'local' artists. We attend community theatre and the civic symphony. We're great library patrons. But we will be DAMNED if we are forced to support "government support for artists and writers". There's too much of that already, and far too much dreck is published, painted and performed at our expense (at least here in Canada).

I think government support for artists, writers, musicians is a terrific idea.

First step: a maximum wage for entertainers, set at 10x minimum wage (to limit inequality of entertainers).

Second Step: All income (from any source) above that limit should be confiscated by the government, And

Third stemp: after necessary fees for government bureaucracy removed, distributed to other entertainers.

Who can’t get behind eliminating entertainer inequality?

Danes are the most shameless people in the world

Oh Yeh! My folks are Danish and as my mother ages she is coming up with stories about the family and their goings on that are just amazing.

As for the home country, all I needed to know was that in Denmark, aged residents of the nursing homes (male or female) can "get serviced" by prostitutes under the National Health program.

Best we can hope for here in the USA under Obamacare involves blunt objects and lubricants.

What's the score for you folks this week? We no longer watch the evening news on any service. We watch only one adventure or Masterpiece story a night. This week since last Friday (five nights) we have had five hours of "poor dear queers". Gads I am sick of bad science and big money politics. Does anybody remember when journalism reported fact and left the lesson learning to the viewer? Does anyone remember when entertainment was supposed to be entertaining and maybe a philosophical question (not a social indoctrination)? If they keep it up we won't be watching anything at all. The internet is much more informative and entertaining!

My wife and I are well past the baby-making time, but I don't remember that sex was better then.

Arming Ukraine would require a long logistic train: equipment, spare parts, ammo, training for operators, training for maintainers, training gear, instructors; you get the idea. Any reasonable chance of The Won going for that? My guess is zero, zip, zilch, nada.

Logistic train isn't as bad for the EU and if Ukraine goes down, Poland is now, no scratch that, Poland is again the front line and with a common border with the Bear.

The USA can send "Lawyers, Guns and Money".
