I didn't know people outside my family - or was it New Orleans? - called avocados "alligator pears".

The first time I brought the future Mrs. Mudbug (who was raised in Georgia and grew up in Virginia) to have dinner with my mother, she went in the kitchen to help her prepare the meal. My mother said, "I love alligators. Don't you?" Well TFMM was taken aback a bit since she thought my mother was referring to reptiles but allowed that they were OK with her (maybe, it was a New Orleans thing?). It was a while before she figured out my mom was discussing salad and not lizards!

And yes, we do love alligators. Don't you?

Not really. I don't care much for avocado or guacamole. Bland and a texture that is not appealing.

So Obummer is going to exempt some people from Obummercare taxes without going through a legislative process. In what way is not the actions of a dictator? When the next pubbie president is elected, will he be able to exempt people from laws, too? Maybe if he can't get a capitol gains tax reduction, he could exempt people from it if "Congress fails to act". Would the pubbies in Congress support that action like the demoncrats support Obummer? If so, it will truly be the end of our republic.

In the 50's and 60's, growing up in Portland OR, my mom would buy Calavos from time to time. We would mash it with a fork onto a buttered piece of toast and add a little salt and pepper. Good stuff. When I moved to California in the 70's I started calling them Avocados, because everyone else did.

My parents used to live right near by an avocado 'farm' in southern California. You could get 4 avocados for a dollar when in season. I am sure you probably still can.

Didn't most people know what guacamole was in the 80s? I would think so. Didn't know they had to be 'sold' to the American public.

Best use of the avocado was in Tortilla Soup I ate in Mexico about 25 years ago. Thin slices of avocado in hot chicken soup with strips of corn tortilla. YUM!

What's the rationale for Hilary? From her perspective, its her turn by gar don't try to stop her. As far as the voters, who knows, I don't trust Public Policy's polling.

Saving Catholic schools, seems more a job for the faithful and those willing to pay the price. In the fwiw category, in the big city nearby, the black elite send their children to the Catholic school instead of the public schools while our teacher's non-union head sends his to an Episcopal day school.

Lepage's plan makes sense for Maine, dunno know how it would translate on the Federal level.

Of course Global Climate Whatever causes less extreme weather, if that's what we're having. It causes whatever happens. In a few months it will cause more extreme weather.
