Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Sure it is. After all, that's what we've been told for years.
Of course, my wife's lily white, Spanish speaking, Ecuadorian relatives (all w/blue eyes & blonde hair, no less) legally check the "Hispanic" box on every form out there... So your wife is a traitor to her race? Or maybe she's not 'Hispanic' enough! ;-)
People! Always messing up gummint plans by doing what they want! The NERVE!
Re: NY's assault on the 2nd Amendment
You have to marvel at the legal mind that can state that a ban on magazines holding more than seven rounds is unconstitutional but a ban on magazines holding more than ten is not. At this point, I want to commend Justice Ginsburg on her tenacity to hang on to her place on the bench while her health has been fading. Hopefully in a couple of years (after a pubbie - a good one we hope - is ensconced in the WH) she will begin her long-deserved retirement. After Heller and McDonald, it is easy get complacent. We should not. The "Legal" system in this country has shown itself to be an abject failure. Whatever they decide, the bullet box is still available. And is not far from being used. The Only Ones would do well to remember this. Note that roughly 300,000 Connecticut residents told their government to shove that law up their Obama. And roughly 1 million New York residents did the same. Just how many "Law Enforcement" officers do you think there are in those two states?
But then again, after all, both Connecticut and New York are incredibly Red states, so such a response was to be expected... Re: Avoiding Germany's failed energy policy (or how is energy like education)
Yes we should avoid Germany's failed energy policy. We should also avoid our own. We should not have an energy policy. That is why we have been dependent on foreign countries for our energy. We have been producing much more energy recently but not because of any energy policies but arguably because of less regulations (the new oil development has been on private land and further away from government interference). Likewise, we should not have an education policy. The Department of Education nor the policies of administrations of both parties have not improved the quality of education. re Does Anyone Know the Democratic Plan for Creating a More Dynamic American Economy?
Does anyone know the GOP plan for creating a more dynamic America Economy? I doubt there is a dime's worth of difference between the two plans ... whatever they are. No one is advocating rolling back the regulatory state which would allow people to create and succeed. Government's motto is: "You can't do that." re the pic:
Years back I recall Maggie's Tom Francis saying he had a similar experience that did not end well. If MF is running out of wintry pics to post I would suggest this one. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fi276.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk1%2FSandyrn6%2FChristmas%2Fchristmas-scene-horse-theme.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fs276.photobucket.com%2Fuser%2FSandyrn6%2Fmedia%2FChristmas%2Fchristmas-scene-horse-theme.jpg.html&h=768&w=1024&tbnid=stvRYfkiSiXRvM%3A&zoom=1&docid=YRt_hj5GVVx0hM&ei=Vit_VOSnD862yASk-4HIBg&tbm=isch&client=palemoon&ved=0CJYBEDMoVjBW&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=2184&page=5&start=68&ndsp=20 In case you are not familiar with it--

Don't get the wrong idea. I only find out computer things by accident or when forced.
When Doc Mercury would write posts here, I couldn't understand even the most basic instructions.

Andrew Cuomo’s stated plan to make New York “the progressive capital of the nation
Apparently the American people desire a personal North/South Korea or East/West Germany experiment. The people of New York have volunteered to be East Germany. They will suffer. We will learn. It’s win-win. Sharyl Attkisson would be recognized with the highest commendations in journalism—the Peabody, the Pulitzer
For many years I have found the people of the USA will do voluntarilty what required repression in other nations. has shaken a lot of people’s faith in the ability of state government to put together something that would work
In what delusional state were the residents of state living that lead them to this conclusion. Almost any state in the northeast, or on the Left coast as well. And the Rocky Mountain High is going that way as well...
