We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Here's hoping that for every member of the mainstream media who asks what the GOP must give up in order to get along with the president, someone will ask Obama what he's willing to sacrifice to get along with the Republican-led Congress.
For the government (specifically the left) to be able to curtail free speech from those they see fit, but not be able to curtail the press, who appear to be in the bag for the left, is a bit scary. For the left to try to intellectualize this, is quite telling.
For Ted Cruz to expose this and fight this, is also quite telling.
I am convinced more now than ever that I am on the right side of history.

Re: Governing from the left
Part of the reason why lefty governments are unsuccessful is because, as Obummer told the UN, he (and all lefties) deal with the world as it 'ought' to be rather than how it is. Of course, this is soaring rhetoric if you are a lefty but if you don't deal with the real world (i.e. all the world - domestic & foreign issues), you will get 'unreal' results which is unhelpful in all sorts of way including your actual agenda.
Having said all that, there is another facet to this that the author alluded to but didn't develop. He said:
QUOTE:
Then came Obama, whose grand aim was to achieve historical greatness by building upon the governmental structures created by Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson.
What was left unsaid was that even though governing from the left doesn't work, it leaves behind stepping stones to allow the next lefty to apply even grander leftist policies or tactics to expand his power. Those leftist policies will then be used by future lefties to expand their power. Such is the case with all the executive actions Obummer has taken and threatened to take. The rise in the power of the executive will continue regardless of who occupies the White House. Obummer could have actually been more successful than his policy failures would indicate.
It seems like an intriguing idea but the author doesn't say who chooses the PCS board of 'experts' and where the money to compensating the injured patients would come from. Presumably, the offending doctor would be dealt with by his employer (the hospital) but what if he were in practice by himself?
