Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Quite different, perhaps, from what his poor Vermonters "need and want" which seems mostly to be free stuff, no jobs, single mothers on welfare, and plentiful meth and heroin. Thank God for our moral and intellectual superiors. We would be lost without them, just like the Pilgrims and the American pioneers were.

Bernie the Brooklyn Blowhard has always felt that he knows what's best for every one else. But I doubt he's open to letting me decide what's best for him.

But the more liberal majority of Vermonters sure do love their coercive utopian. Good thing a lot of the wealth of Vermonters comes from out-of-state trust funds and retirement accounts.

I have heard this line so often from leftists. The arrogance it expresses is stunning. "We know better than you do what you want and need." Really? Unfortunately, too many Americans agree with this view.

I'm a native Vermonter of 78 summers, and I gave up on the Green Mountain State when the hippies flocked there. Bernie is just another bad example of flatland jerks.

Bernie (the Red) Sanders is a socialist/communist. This is what he believes. It would be so much better for everyone, Vermonters and other Americans as well, if he didn't hide what he believes most of the time. But Bernie isn't stupid. He knows if he doesn't hide what he is that his political career is over. Even the crazies in Vermont who keep reelecting him would reject him if Bernie took off the sheep's clothing.

Hey Bernie, how did all those planned economies in Eastern Europe work out? You know, the ones where the elites knew what the people wanted and needed?

That's right. They all failed. Miserable. Failures. And we will fail too if we keep ceding control to morons like you who think they know what we need and want.

What I need and want is for the government to give me less taxes, less regulations and less intrusions into my life.
