Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once... no one was singing the blues." — Phil Robertson, about growing up in the birthplace of the Delta blues. I grew up in the Lutheran Church in the 1950s. By the early '60s "Your God is Too Small" was a very popular book. I cannot remember ever reading it, but I will now. I just downloaded the PDF from this link: thecommonlife.com.au/books/Your_God_is_Too_Small.pdf
Broadcast networks cover Kochs 22 times more than election’s top funder Steyer
Faulty premise. The Kochs have channeled nearly $300 million in dark money into the midterm elections. And what have your Union buddies done? Besides rigging the voting machines, of course. Not to mention the free ads by your Media swill. Shove it up your Koch.
Mark Matis: And what have your Union buddies done?
Start with the facts relevant to the original post. Steyer has donated $50 million to environmental advocacy, all of it disclosed. The Koch brothers have channeled about $300 million in dark money. As for labor unions, unions represent 11% of the workforce. The Koch brothers are about 0.0000015% of the workforce. Labor unions represent FAR LESS than 11% of the workforce. That is the number from whom they collect dues. But then lies are your forte anyway.
Don't forget the TIDES Foundation, Gates and his pile of lettuce, and the many other Million\Billionaires who funneled moola to the campaigns. I also forgot the slush funds called SuperPACs, and a whole host of non-US entities who funneled in cash\support
Politics is a dirty business and notably the most disdained job, below drug dealer, prostitute, and used-car salesman - at lease you get something substantive\tangible from the last three... Mark Matis: Labor unions represent FAR LESS than 11% of the workforce.
But somewhat more than 0.0000015%. In any case, eleven percent of the workforce have a vote in labor union activities. Nor are union members required to pay for political activities. Italy’s in terminal decline... I think that's the government. From what I've seen, read and heard over the years, there is a tremendous disconnect between the state of the government and the rest of the country. Italians seem to have a knack for circumventing their government on almost every level. We in the U.S. might be able to learn something from them.
Should have said ...circumventing their central government.... From what I've seen visiting wife's relatives, they seem to honor and respect local officials for the most part, especially in small cities and villages.
"Why If It Damages America, it's good for Democrats"
That statement and what the linked story presented is the explanation of racism in America today. It benefits the left so they create it. I lived in Mississippi in the 60's and I worked in a environment that was transitioning from the old racism to equality. We won! Racism, or at least white racism was slowly changed and eliminated. Ironically sometime in the late 80's to early 90's was the last time you could go into the deep South and find little to no racism. Today it has all been reversed. Racism isalive and well again in the South. Bt this time it is black racism. It is absolutely is unsafe for white Americans in mst of the South. Schools are hotbeds of racial violence almost all of it is black on white. Black on white rape has skyrocketed. Black gangs roam the streets of large Southern cities. It is unsafe for a white person to walk at night in Atlanta or New Orleans and many other cities. The attitude has changed as well. Blacks who themselves do not violently attack whites will silently or even openly approve of the black gangs that do attack whites. It is ironic and sad that after the huge effort in the 60's and 70's by many people black and white to end racism that they succeeded for a brief decade or so probably peaking in the 80's followed by increased racism and an increased drumbeat by the left for more violent racism of black on white violence. That is where we are today and we still cannot have an honest conversation about it because the perpetrators of this black racism don't want to change it. The media won't report it. They actively coverup any instance of black on white crime while highlightingand exaggerating anything that even remotely looks like white on black crime. And all of this is for the simle reason that it gets Democrats elected. Lopez: Zere can be NO arrrrrrrrrgument! Ve are rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright, und you, you hater basssssstard, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrong!
Phasing out fossil fuels by 20whatever.
So does this also include phasing out those 100 or so products that are derived by oil refinery? Plastics. Paints. Pharmaceutical products. Medical supplies. I could go on. So what are we replacing them with? Already with the decline in coal based energy the oeice of wallboard has increased as they use fly ash to make it. Or wait. Are we just supposed to live in cabes? Because the epa just banned argon in pesticides and I imagine in window and welding applications. Might as well cut to the chase and ban humans. There's no such person as a bisexual son of lesbian parents. He may have a lesbian parent and a lesbian step-parent but he cannot have lesbian parents.
Terms of reference. There was a sperm donor, so a father exists, but never helped raise him. All he knew were two "moms".
