Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Easy! The White Man's Burden is taken out of our paychecks directly every week. Also monthly when many men write checks to their ex-wives.
Civilization didn't have a very long run, did it? The writing was good, I blame the producers and the girls in the chorus. I thought the article was interesting. One point the author made "So what makes the Ebola outbreak different? The difference is simple. Quarantining means that light-skinned people will be detaining dark-skinned people. So we just can’t do it."
I think what is really going on here is something very different. There is a lot of immigration going on under the radar and a lot of it is illegal but sanctioned by the Obama administration (wink, wink). The ebola came here along with Mr Duncan who was not a citizen of the U.S. but seemed to "belong" here. It seems that everyone Mr Duncan knew from Liberia came here and in fact 150 Liberians a day come here. How, why? Did you know before this event that 150 Liberians a day were getting visas from our government to come here? Thats 1050 Liberians a week, 54,600 a year and apparently this has been going on for awahile. Are there any Liberians left in Liberia?? Who pays for these 54,600 Liberians to fly here every year. Estimates are it can cost between $2000 and $3500 to get a Liberian from there to here. But they are poor, broke, destitute, eating bats and bugs. So who paid for them to get here, and why do we give them visas to "visit" like a tourist when we KNOW they aren't going home?? Who masterminded this "illegal" immigration and why? I'm stumped. Was it because we have SOOOOOO much tax money to hand out for welfare that we needed more poor people? Was it because we have a shortage of uneducated, unskilled labor and jobs are going begging? Are all these 54,600 Liberians getting the full welfare Monty? THAT is what the administration is trying to coverup. It isn't about Quarantining or even quarantining people who are black. It is about the secret illegal immigration via VISA overstaying and the administration looking the other way (wink, wink, nudge nudge). They were afraid someone would put two and two together and figure out what is going on. It is a criminal activity misuse of power misappropriation of money that would piss off the American people if the MSM caught onto what is going on. But, no worries! The MSM isn't smart enough to figure this out OR they are part of the coverup. You need to cite your sources before engaging in argument by histrionics.
On October 18, 2014, Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, asked the Dept. of State to stop issuing visas in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, noting that applications were running 100 a day from these three countries. Generously assuming you don't know that "west Africa" includes countries other than Liberia, the number is still below the 150 you claim are issued to Liberians. Further, congressman Royce doesn't distinguish between immigrant and non-immigrant visas, a distinction that appears important to you. Nevertheless, we can assume that not all visa applications are granted, and not all visas are non-immigrant and not all visas of whatever type are issued to Liberians. So how many Liberians are issued visas by the US Embassy? The balance of your rant, extrapolated from unsourced claims, is, frankly, childish and unreliable. http://foreignaffairs.house.gov/press-release/chairman-royce-urges-secretary-state-john-kerry-suspend-issuance-visas-three-ebola Thenumbers have been cited on the news perhaps a hundred times since Mr Duncan graced us with his presence. Are they wrong? In fact I suspect it is lowballed. But you miss the entire point. Wasn't I clear enough? The question is WHY! Why is there a single immigrant from Liberia or West Africa? What is it that we need sooooo bad that we hand out visas like Halloween candy and knowing full well these visas aren't for tourism. They aren't coming here to visit the Grand Canyon! They are coming here to visit the welfare office. THAT is the point ofmy "childish and unreliable" rant. The reason we don't all know what is happening is because our government is intentionally keeping all this secret. If it were public information then we would know with certainty how many immigrants they are sneaking into the country. I believe laws have been broken, palms have been crossed with silver and some have conspired to harm this country. WHY!
I'm not sure what you are actually objecting to. Do you dissagree that 150 or more West Africans come into this country everyday with no intention of going home? Or perhaps you agree to that but dislike anyone pointing it out. Or maybe you think these West Africans are in such high demand here that we really need them to do the jobs Americans won't do. Since you were unable to refute anything I stated I assume you are simply going to insult and run. But again I say WHY? WHY do we give visas to anyone to come here when we know it is their intent to immigrate illegally? Why is there so much secrecy about it? Why is the government intentionally breaking the law? Why does the MSM ignore this? Why don't you care?

You don't cite sources -- after the OP and two responses. you ask me to believe something I know you've made up because I actually made the ten minute effort to locate a reliable source.
How do you know what a consular officer does when someone applies for a non-immigrant visa? Let me answer for you. You don't have any idea. Do you have any idea how many visa applications are rejected? You don't have a clue. Have you even looked at the US Embassy in Monrovia website? That would be "no". How can you make blanket screeds on the intent of visa applicants and expect anyone to consider this a serious discussion? Minimal effort, which you didn't make, would inform you specifically of who overstays and in what numbers and percentages by countries. Why would I believe anything you write? You want respect in debate? Act like an adult -- cite sources and don't run and play victim.

The "cite your sources" rant seems to be the last refuge for someone without a response. Are you asking my to cite my source that 150 West Africans enter this country every day? I can only ask do you even pay attention to the news? Or are you asking me to cite my source that a visa is required to come here from West Africa? Again that has been in the news. So what's left that's unsourced? Maybe you disagree that those coming here on a visa are planning to stay? But they have apartments and welfare and "free stuff" that usually tourists don't get. Doesn't look like they are here to visit the Empire State Building! Or maybe you disagree that it can cost between $2000 and $3500 for someone from Liberia to get here. Again that was stated in a couple of news reports. What sources would change your mind? I'm guessing nothing would change your opinion and the whole "cite your source" rant is about changing the subject. I also suspect your little insults each time you post are simply in the vain hope that I will respond in kind so you wouldn't need to offer an actual reasoned arguement. But perhaps you are right and these 150 West Africans who come in every day spend a couple thousand here on hotels and tours and then fly back to beautiful Liberia before their visa runs out. Could you cite your source on that???

"Cite your sources" is a rantt? You're on a public discussion forum, where adults make claims and support them, or lose the debate out of hand. You think because MF is a conservative site people are going to pat you on the back because you spout platitudes without making any effort to source your claims? "The news", "a couple of news reports", or the like is not a source. It is a fail.
Four posts without a legitimate source after I gave you one showing your initial claim was full of it. Do you even know the difference between an immigrant and non-immigrant visa? You'v lost all credibility, if any you had, because you made up a claim, got called on it, were proved wrong. You don't like foreigners, check. I don't either. But that's not an argument for keeping them out. You won't even honestly define the scope of the problem, which is how many Liberians are overstaying B1s or B2s, and only thing you've accomplished is to make the conservative movement look as inarticulate as your arguments. The fact is you won't bother to do the work. You've spent more time making excuses for why you won't. I could at least make your argument plausible with 30 minutes of research (anyone could) but I won't because why would I reward laziness with "free stuff"?

You have been wrong on every count. First of all I actually do like "foreigners", it's immigration I am opposed to. Secondly you haven't disproved anything I said. I will agree that it is quite possible that news reports have the wrong numbers but whose fault would that be? The government is covering this up. That is because this was/is a secret operation. If Mr Duncan hadn't brought ebola here we may still all be in the dark about this. And last; yeah, I do think the "source" thing was a rant. It is what people resort to when they don't have an arguement. I could find you 100,000 sources to "prove" extraterrestrials exist and have visited earth but of course that's pure fiction.
So I get it. You have zero curosity about 150 West Africans sneaking into this country everyday with the help of the administration. Makes me wonder why you would even respond. You doth protest too much, methinks.

Frost is really documenting the fall of Western Civilization. It is a victim of its success. We were so wealthy, free, and moral that some couldn't stand it so they rebel against all the things that made us wealthy, free, and moral. Others of us are too lazy to defend our principles.
It's anti-intellectualism at it's finest. It occurs to me that the Dark Ages are not necessarily only in the past. All that needs for them to return is to forgo rational thought. Throw in barbarism and you have a particularly lethal cocktail. Christianity was a major force in the Renaissance and it appears that the lack of it helping to bring down the civilization that sprang from it ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" - in what way did Joyce Thacker, the head of Rotherham's children services heed that basic Christian (Western, Liberal) tenant?). |
