We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Jerry Miculek is a legend, Unbelievably fast and accurate with every kind of firearm. And he seems like such a nice kind man.
And no, you wouldn't want to get into a shootout with Jerry, it would be over very quickly.
I might give him a run with long-range rifles. But anything up close or with a pistol, forget it.
I always thought it was strange to include new Medicaid enrollment in Obummercare enrollment data. Wasn't part of the idea of "health care reform" to get people out of the emergency room, where the care is the most expensive, and into doctors' offices where it is supposed to be more efficient and less expensive? And don't people go to the emergency room for care because all they have is Medicaid?
I think the goal of health care reform was to increase the dependence of the welfare class on the government/Democrats and to offer one more incentive for legal and illegal immigrants to vote dependaby for Democrats into the future. The secondary intent is to break the back of the middle class. That great Liberal Democrat Saul Alinsky said that you cannot have a revolution and a Socialist victory with a large and happy middle class.
Everything the Democrats do is towards these goals. Global warming will tax and punish the middle class while simultaneously creating the need to subsidize the "poor" so that they are not unfairly disadvantaged by the new laws, taxes and regulations. The massive increase in immigration will displace the children of the middle class from jobs and higher education opportunities which the left deems to be fair and just as a way to punish white privilage. The new healthcare policies will necessitate and mandate that health care for senior citizens be reduced so that limited resources can be directed towards the "poor" (who by the way vote the correct way). In fact what we are seeing is neo-genocide, a kinder gentler genocide What was that that Oprah Winfrey parroted in a rare moment of honesty... 'There are still generations of people, older people, who were born and bred and marinated in it, in that prejudice and racism, and they just have to die.' Do you think she and the left in general believe that includes the most prominent racists of our times? People like Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson? I think not. I think in this rare insight into the elite mind of the left she meant the middle class people of European descent. I think she was simply lifting the covers of what she and other leftists talk about in private.
I've seen less convoluted 991 conspiracy theories than this.
Would you provide a source and context for the Alinsky quote?
“The late Harvard Professor Saul Alinsky wrote that the key to weaken—then take over America, its economy and its people—is to “destroy the middle class.” Alinsky advocated use of class and race warfare. He believed that “wealth redistribution,” taking from those who work and giving it to those who don’t, is the catalyst to bring down the U.S. economy and free-market capitalism.”
You are right though that this is a conspiracy. Obama, Holder, Jarrett, and a long list of fellow travelers who have been appointed to key government jobs. They are looting the treasury, breaking laws, denying Americans their civil rights and all in an attempt to crash the government so that they can remake it into a socialist/communist state. Obama himself is a red diaper baby born to a communist raised by communists and mentored by communist. Obama did not get to where he is by himself he was "placed" there by people who hide in the shadows. Can you possibly believe that all of the terribe damage he has done to this country and to it's citizens was mere serendipity for the left. YES it is a conspiracy! They are setting us up for a coup, a takeover, a revolution and to do this the middle class must be destroyed.
re Dem Panic
"I do not say that Republican control of the Congress will prevent Obama from further realizing his dreams of transforming the United States into a socialist utopia where everything that is not mandatory is prohibited and the country’s innovative spirit is finally quenched by staggering debt, mindless regulation, and all the assorted enervations that Tocqueville aggregated under the memorable phrase “Democratic Despotism.”
No, Obama has shown sufficient contempt for Congress, as well as ostentatious disregard for the law, that Congress will have a hard time providing that check on abuse of power by the executive that so worried the Framers of the Constitution. If the president simply ignores Congress and governs by fiat — having taken care to pack the courts and civil service with apparatchiks sympathetic to his statist ambitions — then there is not much the Congress can do unless it is willing to confront the president directly and call him to account. The spineless John Boehner has shown just how likely that contingency is. Barack Obama flagrantly disobeys the law. John Boehner threatens to sue the president. Ha ha ha. With what Justice Department were you planning to do that, Mr. Speaker?"
feeb here, this is what concerns me. With two years left in his term and nothing to lose, he will rule by decree as the repubs stand idly by. And yes, I believe the "pen and telephone" abuse will be much worse than it has been.
An insightful quote on political correctness from Theodore Dalrymple via Chicago Boyz from Front Page Magazine:
"Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to."
Re: Holder's 'expert' witness
Holder's 'expert' witness must be referring to poor blacks when he says:
Asked point blank whether “African American voters have less ability to figure out what the rules are for voting,” Stewart responded: “I said African Americans have less education, which leads to an ability to navigate the rules of the game.” I assume he meant that less education leads to an inability to navigate them.
It seems the 'poor' seem to be able to navigate the welfare system pretty well.
Dirty Girls of WA state at it again!
ha ha--looked what Reuters picked up.
Such a little event it's hardly worth noting in the USA of today. However, it does point once again to this very important election choice. Because, the left will most assuredly see to it that this initiative does not pass. That the Seattle Machine will gain a foot hold in destroying gun rights. It all begins right here in beautiful WA state folks. Showing up next in your state!
I think a suddenly interventionist President and the "A Global Force for Good" will come to a meeting of the minds on the necessity to suppress the slave trade. It will be one way to justify all those admirals.
SJW influencing the USPHS? More likely than you think. Designing and building sewers, clean water supplies, giving out shots, diagnosing and treating infectious disease is boring, y'know.
"A faithful reader who asks us to withhold his identity informs us that he has reason to believe the computer network within the Executive Office of the President has been down for close to a week, and staff throughout the various components still lack basic access to their files (though many are now able to access e-mail and the Internet). He advises that EOP staff have been told not to say anything about the situation to anyone. He adds that a major security breach is suspected, but no information has been forthcoming, either to those inside the EOP or to the public."
