We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"Is it really true that political self-interest is nobler somehow than economic self-interest ? You know, I think you’re taking a lot of things for granted. Just tell me where in the world you find these angels who are going to organize society for us ? Well, I don’t even trust you to do that." -- Milton Friedman
When all the nuts become fully ripened, then overripe, and fall out of the trees and bushes, and cluster on the ground for all to see, and to marvel at...
You have to wonder - how many of those "green environmentalists" (with, perhaps, quite a bit of emphasis on the "mental" part - and not in a good way) traveled at least part (if not most) of the way to their Sunday NYC clustering on technological devices that utilize those eeevilll, "environmentally-destructive" fossil-fuel power sources? Or did they all walk - barefoot, or in "naturally-produced" wool, cotton or "organically-cured" leather shoes - to their Rendezvous With Mama Nature?
I hear the bus companies and the airlines and the cab companies had a real good week - not to mention the air-conditioned hotels and motels, and the city restaurants.
