We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I hope the Scots succeed. But I think the winners will be the English. I think it is far more likely that England will break from the EU if the Scots are not part of the decision process and unless England breaks from the EU they are doomed. The EU will collapse (or morph) and when it does it will take down a lot of their members. But worse the EU willhang on awhile longer and that too will set up the destruction of their individual countries.
I was roundly lambasted by a professor back in the early 90s when I said modern technology would not only make possible but make certain that some countries 'devolve' into more homogenous and smaller states. This and the Czech/Slovak split up probably just presages further such.
