Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re: excuses for Obummer
It's obvious the way it works. When good things happen during a pubbie administration, they were going to happen anyway. When bad things happen during a pubbie administration, it's the pubbie's fault. When good things happen during a demoncrat administration, it's because of the brilliance of the demoncrat. When bad things happen in a demoncrat administration, they were going to happen anyway. Re: Rotherham, school choice, & rewriting history
The Brits (at least too many of them in powerful places) have completely lost it and are now certifiably bat sh*t criminally insane. But we in the US shouldn't be so smug. We already have a significant number of people who think that every black man who is killed by a white man (or boy if you must) must be innocent before ANY facts are known (these same people seem to have no problem with the black men - or boys - who are killed by other black men - or boys in numbers that are several orders of magnitude higher). We have a thriving industry in being offended (by just about anything) which has devolved from the suggestion to be tolerant to the demand to be supportive (of just about anything). I don't think it's a large step to where Britain has gone. I believe civilization is a lot more fragile than most. How long can it survive when the youth are taught that its underpinnings encourage thievery, create inequity, and oppression when the facts are clearly the opposite? And how long will be stand by while that is the required curriculum for the vast majority of our students? "... it is in the self-interest of the Democratic Party to make sure racial discord is a permanent condition"
That and the other trumped up social constructs that enable the dishonest politicians to continue to maintain power and control the people. I understand the Democrat party and I recognize that they were taken over long ago by a coalition of crime familes. What I still can't understand is the media and the movie stars and rich people who facilitate, encourage and even lead this criminal agenda to destroy the country. Is it really as simple as these hangers on and fellow travelers benefit from the crumbs that drop from the criminal Democrats? Reporters who maybe don't think they could write an honest story or billionaires who content in their gated homes and world traveling year round vacations who do not think they could be successful without the graft and power they get from the Democrat crime family? Are they selling out their country for payola and power? Is it that base, that simple? It all started when the principle that government was prohibited from acts of charity. This allowed politicians to buy votes for their benefit and the rest of the country's (and often the buyers of those votes) detriment. It has also decimated the legitimate charitable organizations thus increasing their role in the lives of "have nots".
Once the idea of giving your money to "the poor" became accepted, giving your money to the rich (farm subsidies, green energy subsidies, etc.) became easy. The radicalization of the Democrat party in the sixties just accelerated the process. Bake Sales: See how well Vegetable Sales work!
SALON likes less homeownership: Obviously, the Landlord Cartel has them in its clutches. The real Black Sheep: Gots to be "Authentic"; gots to be urban; gots to be part of the Democrat underclass. Nobody's Fault: BUSH!!!!!!11!!!11!! was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO powerful and EVILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!11!!!! that Barry The Magnificent can do nothing (NOTHING!) to reverse it. El Bummer. Feminist at BYU: Out of place, out of touch with the local Zeitgeist. Stupid of her not to know that before enrolling, that being pretty dang obvious. Uber Must Be Stopped: SALON doesn't like anyone else making money. Also, Uber empowers the individual, and SALON doesn't like individuals, just "the masses". The Palestinian Authority IS the Answer: To "Who should never be in charge, anywhere, but especially there?" America's problem with Obama isn't that he hasn't done what's required in the Middle East, its that he has destroyed sixty years of careful diplomacy there for no good reason and with no guiding principle. If he were to have sacrificed our carefully nurtured relationship with Egypt, for example, in pursuit of a different foreign policy vision then we would have something to argue about. But he has not, he is merely thoughtless, feckless and simple-minded. Samantha Power may be an awful person but at least she has principles and has a vision; Obama contradicted her denunciation of ISIS rapidly yesterday but he himself articulated zero vision.
Pundits criticizing the President argue against his lassitude and inaction, but they aren't alone. Secretary Gates is presumably one "retired official" who is talking to Richard Engel of NBC, because he has been critical of WH decision making and now he's getting urgent. It's not just Krauthammer, though I think he's better on Obama's foreign policy than you seem to think. The other big problem I have with Obama's foreign policy is the gutting of the military, because it almost guarantees the new president taking offices 2017 will face war and strife all over the world. We will be fortunate to escape a world war thanks to the horrible decision making and policy decisions of this administration, and, if war comes we have effectively disarmed. We are going to be ill-prepared like no time since 1938-1940. I thoroughly agree on all points except for Samantha Powers, who adds nothing except her loyalty to the O. Hillary would do almost as bad a job as indicated by the Benghazi fiasco.
