Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Thursday, August 14. 2014A classic rantBlack guy is fed up with the Ferguson idiocy and criminality which tarnishes the image of black Americans (h/t Vanderleun and others). Devastatingly right, and the anti-Sharpton, anti-race-pimp. Here's a black leader.

Best line: ".....running around like Curious Georges on Red Bull"
He's spot on about the black response. Blacks rioting and looting (largely black businesses) and hollering about racial injustice in response to this incident only harms the cause and helps to make it "their cause" rather than "our cause." Many white people are fed up with the strong arm tactics and "militarization" of the police as well. Witness the recent book, "The Rise of the Warrior Cop", numerous articles condemning the police use of asset forfeiture laws to steal your stuff, reports of SWAT raids on wrong houses, etc. In essence, the local police have changed over the last 50 or so years from peace officers to a law enforcement gestapo. So, why has this happened? One reason, for certain, is the lack of respect for authority - and police authority in particular - that has developed since the 60s. The particulars of a law and how it is implemented has a great deal to do with how it will achieve its advertised goals. When the Civil Rights Act was passed, it was advertised as simply giving equal rights to people of all races. (NB - Rights that they already had under the Constitution) As I said, "advertised as..." The unfortunate reality is that the progressives implemented a system that tried to correct one wrong by implementing another wrong - discrimination against whites (and subsequently males) and coddling of blacks. The guidelines put in place and implementation let blacks know that they could get away with a great deal - cursing at police, spitting at them, etc. In other words, a complete lack of respect for police (as well as school authorities, etc.) The progressives - remember, these were the same idiots who rebelled against authority during the 60s - have taught blacks to not only disrespect authority, but to blame those in authority for all their problems. There was a time, when police knew that their uniform and badge were enough to make people listen and obey and they did not fear for their personal safety during routine encounters on the street. That's changed. Actions have consequences and black behavior has had the consequence of creating an adversarial relationship between the police and the community and putting the police on edge during even routine encounters. If blacks want to be treated like law abiding citizens who are simply a part of the larger community when approached by police, they need to start acting like law abiding citizens and community members rather than entitled and protected punks with a bad attitude. There's no doubt that there are bad cops out there and that there has been a change from peace officer to militarized LEO. This has upset whites as well as blacks. When blacks act as they have during this incident, they aren't helping to solve the problems. As a result of this behavior, when a cop shoots a black youth, the response from the white community is: (1) we expect the blacks to loot and riot and to yell "racism", (2) we have at least some suspicion that the black youth is guilty of at least some provocation, (3) because the black community frames this as a race issue, we're not as concerned because we aren't black. As long as the issue is "a white cop shot a black kid", it's a black problem. When it becomes "a cop shot a kid", we'll start ti fix any problems. "As long as the issue is "a white cop shot a black kid", it's a black problem. When it becomes "a cop shot a kid", we'll start ti fix any problems."
Well stated. Maybe you should run for high office. You have the ability to think beyond the next thought. ......and now I just saw on the news that our golfer-in-chief is calling for the FBI and the DOJ to investigate.....
The FBI and the DOJ have no business in what is clearly a LOCAL incident. The FBI and the DOJ should be investigating the criminal coverup at the IRS. This is simply another political stunt by Obama to placate black voters and go along with the idea that the shooting and the handling of it by local authorities is tainted with racism. Obama doesn't truly give a rat's ass about Michael Brown - nor does Al Sharpton. They will simply use this to keep blacks on the plantation under their protective wings. Sharpton, Jackson, Obummer, Holder, et al only care that there are more Michael Browns (or they can invent them) so they can continue to claim victimhood.
Kudos to this man. However, I fear he will - if he not already is - be the victim of the professional "blacks are always victims" professionals. I applaud his thinking and his work on bringing up his children properly. However, unless, more blacks are willing to look honestly at what their culture has become, his efforts are doomed. And I speak as one who - from a child - honoured George Washington Carver.

Like I said, actions have consequences and if you want to be treated like a law abiding citizen type, you need to act like one. I remember the initial reports from the black community about this - a cop shot a "boy". A 6'4" 290 pound 18 year old is not a "boy" - unless the black community is using "boy" in its pejorative form. WHAT LIKELY HAPPENED
Mike Brown and his buddy roughed up a convenience store clerk and robbed the store. Police officer, responding to 911 call, approached subjects meeting description of suspects and confronts them. Officer tells them to stop and when officer tries to get out of his car, Mike Brown either slams door shut on officer or shoves him in car. Officer grabs suspect and scuffle ensues. At some point during this encounter, officer pulls gun and it is discharged as a result of Mike Brown's attack on the officer. Mike Brown is shot while engaged in physical confrontation with officer. Being a large young man, it takes him a minute or so to keel over - 20-30 feet away from the car. Mike Brown's accomplice lies about the events rather than admitting that they had been confronted because of the crime they had just committed. Sounds a lot like the whole Trayvon Martin hoax, doesn't it? Black male playing Knockout Game targets Hispanic guy he told his girlfriend on the phone he thought was gay, becomes innocent child gunned down in cold blood by evil white man.
The sad thing is millions of people still believe Trayvon was an innocent black child. Right on, brother. I'm in my 84th year of life. I grew up on a farm in the south. Worked along side of many blacks. We became "fiends". As a Christian I love every body IF they are lovable.. The others I ignore. AJM
