SWAT growth is a response to the pet population crisis. They use it to manage the pet dog herd.

I had the rotisserie chicken from Costco last night. Wife came home from work, didn't want to cook, neither did I. $5.00 (and some milk, bread, eggs, and a few other items we needed) later, we were having a very tasty dinner.

I'd say we have the chicken once a month. It's pretty tasty, never dry, and we actually get 3 meals out of it (chicken sandwiches or salad for lunches). Not bad for $5.

Having meat in your diet is a sign of modernity brought on by capitalism. It is hard to turn people away from such a sign of wealth and freedom.

One assumes they want to dose the water supply with the anti-meat drug as a step to turn back human progress to a pre-modern state.

The Elbit Systems video says it detects and also fires a counter measure, fwiw. That same video refers to shoulder fired missile only, meaning that this video doesn't actually say that the higher altitude missile that took out MA17 could have been dealt with by the system. El Al looks like the airline to fly though, because if any airline is prepared for these sorts of attacks I suppose it would be theirs.

To be fair, the MUSIC system is an active countermeasure, but only against IR guided missiles. Uses a laser to dazzle the sensor or something. You're right to the extent that (I assume) the only benefit it would provide with a radar guided missile is a warning and without countermeasures specific to radar guided missiles (chaff, decoys, jamming) it is unlikely that the warning would be of any help.

and any radar guided missile system worth its cost of purchase has excellent counter-countermeasures.
Chaff for example would be useless unless evasive action is also taken, which would require airliner crews to be trained in 3-4G turns and twists of their $200M+ aircraft filled with hundreds of paying passengers. And of course active jamming at the same time, which by now can be somewhat automated but preferably would require a skilled operator still to tweak it to the exact system it's trying to defeat.

You'd want every airliner crew to be trained like the crews of B-52s and C-17s, or penetration trained tanker crews.
Would be fun for the pilots, but a lot of barf bags would need clearing out for the cabin crews...

I saw a video of Obummer giving that talk. It is one of the very few things he's said that I agree with (Kayne West being a jackass and that black fathers should take care of their kids being about the only other ones).

I hope it gives it often. I would guess that even then, it won't be reported much.

What makes me laugh is that Obama is a total fake--he's "acting black" all the time. He is a caricature of a black person, a persona he has concocted in order to get where he is. His black accent is fake, he grew up speaking "haole" in Hawaii and only learned to put on the black accent when he went away to the Mainland for school. All his black mannerisms are fake. This is a guy that grew up in a upper middle class white family (his beloved grandmother who raised him was a senior vice president of the largest bank in the state), had white friends, and went to a top prep school where anyone who tried to talk like he now pretends to would be laughed off campus. His Indonesian step father would have never tolerated that either during the time he lived with him, which wasn't that long.

I've only heard him drop the black accent once, when he was in Hawaii and being interviewed by a local Hawaii reporter--I guess he got lulled in by someone speaking exactly how he used to speak--but he quickly realized after about 3 or 4 seconds and put the jive speak back on. My guess is he taught himself to speak this way listening to a lot of Martin Luther King speeches and other black preachers--my suspicion is this is the real reason why he went to his Marxist Black Church, to listen to the African American black pastor and others go at it and get his jive speak down.

The other thing that I thought of when I read this and heard the video is that he is only half black and there was some noise when he started to run for president that he might not be "black enough".

On the other hand, he only identifies himself as being black. The white half is inconvenient so his grandmother is "a typical white woman", but being black has political advantages for him - such as inoculating him from criticism (because it must be racist).

The Elbit system is for terrorists who sneak close to the flight line and fire at airliners descending or taking off. It is not a system designed for defense against the anti-aircraft missiles of a modern state with multiple sensors and capable of high altitude attacks. Evidence is that two missiles were fired at the airliner, that is actually a hint that the target was assumed to be a Ukrainian military transport. Only an idiot would waste two expensive missiles on a dead duck.
Only another modern state can provide a defense against that threat level. Short of war, don't fly in that airspace. The datum that military jets are being knocked down is strong proof that if fighters with sophisticated warning system, flares and chaff are getting killed then the hand at the controls is Russian. And very skilled.

Question is, is that sufficient reason to go to war? It's been done for roughly the same reason; Barbary Pirates, War of Jenkins Ear, Lepanto, etc...

But will Europe go it alone, because Barry won't be signing on. I wonder how many Europeans will be changing travel plans this summer?

Pelosi is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. She couldn't possibly be that stupid. You cannot watch her over the years and have listened to her and not believe she just might be the stupidist person ever to enter politics. But she couldn't be "that" stupid. It is impossible. She must be intentionally trying to destroy the country. But then there is Harry Reid who may well give Pelosi a run for the title of the stupidist person in politics. Then of course there is Obama. Is it even possible For the top Democrat politicians in the Senate, the house and the president to be either incredibly stupid or actually intending to destroy the country? But there it is! Either they are truely all that stupid or they are truely conspiring to destroy the United States.

Other Democrats say incredibly stupid things but they are clearly in it for the money and power. Debbie Wasserman Schultz lied in the face of the facts and made many stupid statements but she did it for political gain and power. She isn't stupid she is merely dishonest and a political prostitute. Charles Schumer has made some incredibly stupid statements in his long career of stupid statements but he isn't stupid either he is so politically polarized that he truely believes a lie to defeat the Republicans is not a lie and all power by Democrats is good for the country. Ted Kennedy wasn't stupid, he may have been one of the mst dishonest and ethically challenged politicans in modern history but he wasn't stupid but he too would spout off with stupid statements and couldn't seem to help himself. But seriously could Pelosi and Reid be "that" stupid? Is it humanly possible to rise to the top of the political food chain and be as stupid as they appear to be? I honestly think they are puppets and the puppet master cannot resist rubbing our noses in it by making them act as dumb as stones and still retaining power. I do some what back off on including Obama with Pelosi and Reid. I think that Obama says many things that are pure wrong for the country and are bad ideas and bad for Americans but he rarely appears "stupid". I suspect he finds it just as painful as the rest of us do to listen to Pelosi and Reid.
