We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
As much as we work for the government, we also work for those who will not or can't. When someone lives at the expense of another, that's called slavery.
Monsanto isn't as nice and as rewarding as your meme would have us to believe. This is just one article on failed crops. Which other seed company has sued farmers around the world for patent infringement when the Monsanto crops blow over to other fields?
It is illegal to plant seeds with Monsanto genetics unless you buy the seeds from Monsanto.
"Monsanto is notorious among farmers for the company’s aggressive investigations and pursuit of farmers they believe have infringed on Monsanto’s patents. In the past 13 years, Monsanto has sued 410 farmers and 56 small farm businesses, almost always settling out of court (the few farmers that can afford to go to trial are always defeated). These farmers were usually sued for saving second-generation seeds for the next harvest — a basic farming practice rendered illegal because seeds generated by GM crops contain Monsanto’s patented genes."
I hope the media succeeds in drafting Sen. Warren. A far-left academic with 2 years experience as Senator? Only the hard-core leftists will vote for her. She'll go down in flames if the GOP can put someone with common sense up as a candidate.
Monsanto is targeted by the left and there are a lot of willing left leaning media outlets to air one sided stories about Monsanto. If you want to see companies that protect their "rights" try downloading or uploading music. You will find yourself in court. Or copy the books on the NY Times best sellers list and post them to your blog and see if anyne tries to defend their copyrights. Monsanto literally spends billions to create a GMO product. They ask that farmers not use seed from the GMO crops they grow but rather buy them from Monsanto. This is of course how they can afford to spend a billion dollars to create a better plant. Why should anyone be suprised that they take their rights to the GMO plant they created seriously?
