We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I continue to be distressed that while it is quite obvious that Gordon is not imposing its beliefs (except perhaps on its students, who are there voluntarily) on anyone, the accusation is not disavowed other liberals.
Salem's statement is quite clear: you are not allowed to be a different sort of person in our shop. If you have beliefs and practices outside the shop that do not impact your work here, no matter. We will still refuse to do business with you.

I took a college visit to Gordon when I was a Sen in HS. Nice enough place, but a bit far for me at that time.
This certainly is not a good omen, it's quite distressing, but Christians, and certainly evangelicals, can only blame themselves. They tolerated injustice far too long, and pastors and leaders (many who came through Gordon College and nearby Gordon Conwell Seminary) taught that it was wrong to oppose injustice.
Now there is great momentum to tear down Christian institutions in the US. It will be hard to oppose it.
