Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I think it's more the women who vote Dem, at any income level.

Yes, because women more often want somebody else to "take care of" them, and damn the cost or the consequences. That's why women stay with abusive men; at least they are "taken care of", which is better than making decisions for themselves.

Not ALL women, of course, and not ONLY women, but a lot - enough to destroy the country.

Single women are a strong constituency; blacks, newer hispanics. The core Democratic leadership group - childless arts and humanities liberals, are only about 17% of the population. But that's enough to run one party in a two-party system, promising to look out for the others.

Add to that, the FSA (Free S**t Army) will always vote to secure the revenue stream - the fear of having to work for your upkeep is their nightmare.

We hold these truths self-evident, that the status-quo will never willingly relinquish their grasp on power, even for the good of the Nation...
