We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Yes, Greeks do eat a lot of "Village Salad." It does call for Greek olive oil (often considered lousy oil except by the Greeks), which is somehow different from Italian even though the olives are the same.
Greeks, like the north africans, don't really do "extra virgin" or any of that fancy stuff.
Waldbaums, the Long Island store, possibly the best grocery store I've ever been in. Some LI friends of mine took her dying father there as his last request. Drawn by the sampling tables and stations of exquisite samples; meat, cold cuts, bread, but especially Olive Oil. A wrap around shelf with probably twenty different brands and species of olive oil and a few balsamic vinegars, with fresh baked bread sticks on hand to dip with.
Heaven. Pity my former friends and I separated over politics.
