We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Al Gore on the 13th of December, 2008 (So sorry, Al. It has expanded. Find a fresh new scam, or have you made enough money on that one? Last I heard, it was close to $200 million, which ought to cover your special massage charges including the Happy Endings too.)

Of course he now insists that, like the human body's cells, the polar ice cap's cells all die out and are replaced every seven years, and so he was really only off by two.

An Australian global warming guy is reportedly trying to nail down the exact next seven-year anniversary so he can hire a freighter and run "Science Trips" (tm) up to the cap with Al and witness the instantaneous seven-year switch. Of everything. At once. Boy, are they gonna be mad.

This an excellent example of the right wing echo chamber. From the view of many on the right, the echos they hear must be true. If you Google "The entire north polar ice cap will be gone in 5 years", you will find hundreds of right wing websites parroting the quote. Meanwhile, it sounded more like a misspeak on Al Gore's part, or a misquote. So we checked. And yes, indeed, it's a misquote.

The exact misquote is found 23,600 times on Google, while the exact quote is found 7 times. Excellent work there bending the truth to fit a preconceived narrative.

Gore is even misquoted on the linked site, which features the video. His misquote as "polarized" is a nice touch by Driscoll, proving once and for all that Al Gore is fat.

I have to disagree, now, with Krauthammer. As a conservative, I now believe liberals are evil. That comes from the liberals propensity for name calling, bulling, and race baiting that passes for debate
