Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

>>New guidelines urge fewer caesarean births
Also, your trip through the birth canal is your first exposure to microbes and yeast. Babies born by C-section have less intestinal bacterial flora, and tend to have more allergies and infections in early years. Another example of the law of unintended consequences. "Knowledge is a human right"
So why are leftists so busy censoring? Re: Investment allocation to avoid
DUH! With interest rates low, you get a miniscule return and when rates rise - as they must at some point - the underlying value of your bonds will decrease. Unless one is betting on severe deflation, why would anybody want to buy bonds? That de Blasio's driver breaks driving laws comes as no surprise. Politicians, as a group, seem to believe that the laws they write are meant for others not themselves. Liberal politicians are especially good at this type of hypocrisy.
Several years ago, John Corzine (has a D after his name) when governor of NJ had his state trooper driver speed on the turnpike causing an accident in which Corzine suffered several broken bones. And the cops tried to pin the accident on a young casino worker! So, just wait until dear Uncle Bill's driver does something and they will try to pin the blame on an innocent victim of their bad driving as well. Also interesting is that for both the Corzine accident and this Uncle Bill's incident it wasn't urgent government business; rather, it was for the sake of a photo op. In Corzine's case it was so he could be seen with the Rutgers Women's Basketball team after the shock jock, Don Imus, called them names (If I remember correctly it was something like "nappy-headed ho's). Here in Uncle Bill's case it was so he could be seen filling potholes. (ha! he does have one hole I wish he would shut -I can't stand to listen to him talk - he just annoys me) Re: Venezuela
There is an interesting comparison between the coverage of Venezuela and Ukraine. Ukraine is getting a lot of coverage yet Venezuela is getting next to none. My theory is that the Venezuela "experiment" is a lefty wet dream and so its failings, abuses, and struggles for legitimacy must be ignored whereas Putin (the real other side to the protests in Ukraine) has no street cred with the left and is expendable and even makes a useful foil for lefties. Re: MSM curious re Obummer admin
I'm glad Kurtz is speaking out. He should. But so should the Washington Post, NYT, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and on and on and they are not (at least as far as I can see - but admittedly I don't waist my time on most of those outlets). One would have thought those same groups would be screaming about the DOJ probe into the AP (Rosin at Fox is another story to them). The only time the MSM will care about abuses is when there is someone other than a Demoncrat in the White House. re Salon Writer: ‘White Thuggery Marches On, Mowing Down Black Folks’ -Time for Violent Response?
One wonders what the reaction would have been if the author had been white and written, Black thuggery marches on, mowing down white folks - time for a violent response? wonder on if Krauthammer is giving paradoxical advice. Obama making appearances in fly over country could give many D incumbents heartburn.
Cuba starving its population? Well, one way to the growing problem of obesity, diabetes, resource exhaustion, etc. Of course Kerry is wrong about climate change. Unlike Spencer, he is not a climate scientist and so anything he says is wrong. Though I wonder if he knew was speaking in the world's top largest exporter of coal. And once again, the big bore, no maintenance crowd vs the clean rifle, small caliber crowd on the M16/M4. Like Ford vs Chevy vs GMC, the debate will go on forever. "Why Secretary of State Kerry is flat wrong on climate change"
Because he's an f'in fool who anyone pays attention to only because he married into enough money to enable him to stay permanently divorced from reality. |
