Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Where Have All the Uninsured Gone?

 We just created a giant new entitlement to take care of these people. Why aren’t they showing up to take advantage of it?



Maybe they want to be left alone, same as they did before. Maybe they are not filled with gratitude towards their benefactors.

Maybe they don't need health insurance.

Maybe all the people who wanted health insurance and could afford it already had it. The so-called Affordable Care Act seems to be about making the rest of us buy it -- and making it a lot less affordable.

I guess the act was named for what it bans.

There is so much about Obummercare that I don't know (I don't think I'm alone), but aren't a lot of those people who couldn't afford insurance going to put on the Medicaid roles? Weren't they already there?

I must be missing something...

I know a lot of those "uninsured" were young people who chose not to have insurance. But I can't help but think that when they made those wild claims of tens of millions uninsured they included illegal aliens. So I think we are waiting for the next shoe to drop before Obamacare fulfills it's intended goal; amnesty.
