Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Pretty dire items posted this AM, BD.... Almost wants one to prep the hemlock tea. ;)
Poor fertility rates, cheaper healthcare than 404Care, stacking the deck at the IRS - I'm almost afraid to view Zerohedge... Nice WH video on "global warming". It is good that they have a lot of waviness of the eastward flow of air between the sub-polar lows and the sub-tropical highs. Otherwise, they'd have to wave their arms.
But the important thing is it ends in his belief? Very scientific, circa, 1650. He really did say that Global Warming will produce more frigid weather driven from the Arctic that is warming faster than the mid latitudes (I had to watch it again to make sure).
So let's see... The Arctic is warming much faster than the rest of the world - even though there is recode ice formation at both poles... Let's not forget that he's really describing the Polar Vortex that was blamed for the coming Ice Age that was supposed to happen back in the '70s. I wonder if the temperature differential he talks about is the reason that there haven't been as many hurricanes as warmists warmed us about after Katrina? They are making it up as time goes along.
Nothing was predicted. It is entertaining though. I wonder what they'll say next! :-)
really? I had no Idea the Oval Office et al could do such a spin.
Its almost like Fundamentally Changing Society(tm). Yes, they are really spinning the "polar vortex" for all its worth.
Of course. historically, the band of sub-polar lows have always migrated south in the northern winter and north in the northern summer. They're Canadian or something. One could almost see it being influence by the impingement of solar radiation. But as they've screamed at us, the sun is not a big influence on global temperature. So now, hysterically, the model warming of the Arctic faster than the mid-latitudes, which by the way would reduce the pressure difference, causes the "polar vortex" to break off and be pushed into America's heart by malevolent forces unleashed by the build up of CO2 in the atmosphere. Our folly has released the monster from its icy grave (and now we are all going to die wearing a tight little tank top and bikini panties.) Survival tip: If you hear the drip, drip, drip of a melting icicle, don't go investigate, It's a Trap! So we're dealing with civilizational dysfunction from a massive peasant class migration over a hundred years ago but our betters think bringing in another massive peasant class that doesn't even speak the Queen's English is a good idea.
Let us all remember that Holdren was an advocate for enforced abortion, sterilization, contraceptives in the public water supplies and "family planning" by the all mighty state the purpose being population control. He denies this of course, but he co-authored Ecoscience: Population, Resources, Environment with Paul & Ann Ehrlich so it's in black and white.
How idiots like Holdren get their positions is a mystery to me because he's never been right on anything. Regarding the Reverse Mortgages post; I will have my mortgage paid off by about the age of 64. So, no more monthly payments, right?
Hardly. When I pay off my mortgage, at present rates my monthly payment will not go to 0. It will go to about 40% of what I'm paying now. The continued payment is what my mortgage company has been paying for me into escrow. In other words, I will still have to pay hundreds of dollars a month to the State (and, acting as their agent, to the County, the Village, the Library Board, the Sanitary District, 3 School districts, the Mosquito Abatement District, the Tuberculosis District, etc. ad nauseum) for the privilege of remaining in my home of what will then be some 30+ years. My parents didn't have to pay nearly that percentage or amount of money to the State to keep THEIR home from being taken from them by armed agents of the State and sold to the highest bidder. I may need a reverse mortgage at that time just to pay my taxes. Thank you, Ron F., for posting this rebuttal here as well as at the rather childish site linked. As a Boomer who has spent my entire life watching my cultural heritage being flushed down the toilet (and doing what I could to stop it), I'm tired of all this blaming. Not one Boomer voted for FDR, and not many of us were old enough to vote for LBJ either.
Likewise, not one of the Millennials I know personally was listening when this cranky old Boomer warned them to learn more about 0bama before rushing in to cast their "historic" votes for him. They did it anyway and now they are waking up and they are scared. As well they should be. But whom do they blame? Who gets their anger? Boomers. Grow up, kiddies. Watch an episode of Judge Judy and you will see how often couples are never married, but have multiple children. Other themes on that show:
1) People who can barely speak a complete sentence are in college and using their loans and scholarship money to buy cars, loan to boyfriends/girlfriends/family members, and go on vacations. 2) People who seem to be able to stand, talk, use their hands discuss their disability payments as their main source of income...or disability payments to children as their main source of income. 3) People who move in with a boyfriend/girlfriend who lives with their parents. 4) People who sign leases who don't have enough money to pay more than a security deposit and first month's rent...oh, and usually have no source of income. So very sad to see women be okay with living with a man, having his children, and never getting married. Ever. And both of them seem to be totally fine with that arrangement. I often wonder how these kids explain their family situation to friends or teachers. re Who's from the worse home? These cops or the kid?
The timely footage provided an unadulterated glimpse into the dysfunctional world of a criminally-prone subculture whose identity is intentionally based on anti-social behaviors. As for the gangbanger who created the video, he posted a nonsensical rant on OPOA’s Facebook page, which took aim at those advocating for the child. “Man f**k all of yall because the matter of the fact is you act like we was giving that little boy weed or we have a gun in his hand or something b*tch no! but I put you’re a** in an orphanage don’t ever talk on my f**kin cousin move around with that sh*t I don’t give a f**k about you , the police or these mother**kers leaving comments on this mother**ker so therefore all yall can suck my d**k nigga!” http://theblacksphere.net/2014/01/thuggin-101-thug-caregivers-teach-toddler-keep-real/ Reverse mortgages are STILL targeted at the SILENT GENERATION.
I can't think of a SINGLE Boomer who'd even consider a reverse mortgage, Y E T. This is an option that is only now coming in to view for Boomers. It's a complete loser, of course. The counter-parties -- in ALL cases -- are the nation's biggest banks, of course. In this gambit, they use cut-outs -- as it would be toxic if the general public understood exactly who is pitching this junk. And, of course, anything pitched this hard is a total rip-off of retired Americans. -- Theft of their home equity -- with the terms decided by the big bank, of course. ==== If you go back into ancient (English) common law you'll discover that the King made it unlawful for any mortgage lender to take a back-end option on the same property -- no matter how it was constructed on paper. The remedy at law was to void the debt in its entirety. This was actually applied to Standard Oil of New Jersey -- over forty-years ago. The oil firm was lending mortgage monies to stations -- and then taking back an option on the very same properties -- in case the proprietor was doing too well. Once it reached the US Supreme Court -- and only then -- did legal research establish that the giant firm was in gross violation of English common law. Hundreds of service station mortgages were voided in an instant. You can pull the case up on any legally oriented data base. Issuing reverse mortgages is, de facto, the same gambit ruled unlawful eight centuries ago. The one party has ALL of the leverage and market information -- the other party is a complete dupe. |
