We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The Unitarians are already a athiest church. Church of the Holy Doughnut. At Ithaca NY, they had an atheist AA group that used each other as their higher power. I think it has since disbanded after a few of their higher powers fell off the wagon.
In 10 years:"Well it was difficult raising children in a Mixed marriage. You see I'm an English Orthodox Atheist, while my partner is Western Reformed Atheist. In the end, we taught the children that while we agree we don't believe in the same thing, we don't believe in it in different ways. In the end, we decided it best to let them grow up a little and decide how not to believe in anything in their own way."
