Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Not PC to discuss family breakdown. Also, Obama's own family was broken to say the least.
Not broken. Never existed. Guy knocked up his mother, and disappeared.
WTF! That NYT tweet not only says they had a reporter on the ground, it says they had a reporter "...talking to the attackers during the attack." I foresee a Congressional subpoena in their future.
Detroit Abandoned, and Then Tore Down, a Major Library, Complete With Books
To complete the obscenity, have the librarian kneel on the floor surrounded by the desecrated books and have their head bashed in by one of the new barbarians. “Toward a Feminist Postcolonial Milk Studies,” by one Greta Gaard.
Read about this woman: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greta_Gaard in particular: 1 Ecocriticism and ecocomposition 2 Ecofeminist theory 3 Ecological politics also links to other eco-bs, especially ecolinguistics, that are very enlightening. If we are going to save this country it has to start by taking back academia. She seems to produce a sort of unintelligible word salad which seems close to, or into, the psychotic. No wonder she's famous in the Queer-Eco-Feminist community.
Exactly. It has all the touchy-feely tripe, word count, and academically presentable, but says absolutely nothing.
She'll go far in academia and the PC crowd, but will starve if she has to live by her wits... Eco this, eco that, but I strongly suspect that you could count on the fingers of one hand the number of STEM [science, technology, engineering, math] courses she has taken.
Ecology is part of the biological sciences. What Ms. Greta writes is sociology double-speak. Manure converted to words. $6 billion in wind subsidies. Why? If it was a good idea and actually practical would t need subsidies. The very fact that something needs subsidies is probably the best indicator it is a bad idea. Don't make the mistake of thinking that this $6 billion is the only subsidy for green power. There are many other subsidies they enjoy. This is nothing more then looting the treasury.
Wind, Ethanol or Solar. But not limited to those, rather any wealth transfer scheme joined together by the common characteristic of Government Mandate.
It ain't a good idea, but it's mandatory. In Mass, my electricity costs over three times the national average due to a hat full of billing add-ons including mandatory purchase of "Green" power (about 17 cents a kW) going to 21 cents after the off-shore Cape Wind project starts producing. My power company is forced to pay that outrageous rate by State Mandate. Sued for a study: Taking the gruel out of the mouths of lawyers' children! Oh, the huge manatee!

Ecofeminist Milk: The Stupid is so strong, she should be a black hole by now. Inequality: Clearly a scam. MSNBC: Raaaaacists in denial. Detroit: A huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge example of stupidity and cupidity in action. Chi: Yup, pitting the employees against those they are supposed to be working for. The Grauniad: Stupidity on a stick. How are jobless benefits on the taxpayer? I payed unemployment insurance premiums through my working for 40+ years. When I had to make a claim on those benefits, I was collecting my own money.
I wish it were true. But the amount they take in is a pittance compared to what must be paid out. A better system would be to truely limit the unemployment benefit to 4 weeks and then require the recipient to pay it back once they are working again. It could be collected as a tax from their paycheck to make it easier.
Chicago's blue crackup.....Nearly all these cities are blue cities. The blue politicians run these cities because they made the promise to provide expensive benefits to blue government employees that voted them into office. Now they find out way too late that they were bs'd into trading votes for bene's. I can only guess their ex boyfriends did the same by promising them most anything, including love, for a good roll. Now its the morning after...how does it feel?
