We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Those sick perverts that run Hollywood can't wait to get at those little kids--can't wait to film child porn legally! and sell it to the tv channels. Hell, who knows pretty soon now those ba%%%% will have us watching children being raped in the 8:00 primetime slot for entertainment.

Gee, another DRUG company-funded study blasts those who might turn away from Big Pharma and instead use vitamins to seek health over addiction to drugs!

WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED???

Dr Joel Wallach,"...decried the lack of specific details on the study which dismiss vitamins and declared that the articles about the research "don't even rise to the level of comic books." He also noted that the study is particularly suspicious because it was funded by the drug company Pfizer. "Every function in your body has vitamins and minerals that are required to make them happen," he said, "and so for doctors to say that vitamins and minerals have no positive effects on these things is absolutely deceitful."

Talk about irony. That statement is artfully deceitful. If you get the required vitamins from your food then a multi-vitamin will not make you "healthier". Just as two multi-vitamins wouldn't make you twice as healthy and 3 multi-vitamins won't make you three times as healthy etc. That is the whole point. The quacks are trying to sell you vitamins (or sell you their biases) and everything they say is by necessity a lie. If on the other hand you are not getting your MDR of vitamins and other essentials from your diet then you should look more closely at your diet.

The Obama administration wants a boost in funding of medical research. Like typical government funding they will demand the results that should come out of the grant funding. There is no reason it will be any more honest than AGW research. Government funding is all about government control and the benefit to the politically connected elite.

The vitamin industry is filled with people who got kicked out of the used car industry for ethics violations and were too dishonest to sell snake oil.
