Most Brits believe in taking the mickey out of anyone and everyone. It's just their gutless government.

However, it is important also to remember that the Brits have a long history of being more balanced about the Middle East than Americans. They don't automatically assume Israel is right every time. They don't have the kind of automatic hatred of Arabs and Islam that many ignorant Yanks do. When your children are fighting in the back seat, you administer swift and impartial punishment to all of them and you certainly don't play favorites. Or the fights will go on forever.

Go watch "Life of Brian" by Monty Python again, parodying the life of Christ. Brilliant! Especially "Always look on the bright side of life..." Nothing is sacred to an intelligent Brit.

But it's interesting that the Brits' satire is so much better than the Yanks. Here in this country, we just get tasteless dreck, for example the proposed NBC Brittany Spears vehicle with a show mocking the Crucifixion by having the bimbo in a cooking show called "Cruci-fixins". I wouldn't call for closing down NBC for such terminal vulgarity, but a refusal to watch such garbage is in order. If you're going to mock the sacred, do it with wit and intelligence not pneumatic idiots.
