Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"If The Cops Pull You Over, These Are Your Rights"
nice in theory. In reality, your rights are to do as you're told. If you don't, it's their word against yours and they'll always find some excuse to detain you. similarly with searches, "2) "Plain view" also gives an officer the okay to search your car." So they get creative and "I think I see something suspicious there" and voila, they have an excuse for a no-warrant search. And that baggie of pot? Easy to produce and let slip out of a shirt sleeve as needed to provide "evidence". Wouldn't be the first time nor the last. "4) Your car can be searched if an "officer has probable cause to suspect a crime,"" Same thing. They stopped you, therefore you must have done something wrong, right? Those are great but of no real use on the side of the road.
Never give your consent. Never physically interfere with the officer. Be polite. Your goal is to create as good a situation as possible for your lawyer to argue before a judge. Consent, negates any need for the other justifications for search. Your lawyer will have nothing to argue if you consent. Interference is a crime and will be used as cause for arrest, which then gives cause of a search. Verbal abuse, just makes the guy and his friends with guns, tasers, etc. angry. Well, not always. Most (say 90(+)% are pretty straight forward, and are pretty cool (voice of experience - I used to be one of them) and understand that you're pulling over someone whom is nervous, intimidated\ feel you are intimidating, and jittery. Plus, its a potential situation for harm, both to the police and the detainee.
Its the other ~% you have to fear - the TJ Hooker wannabe's, Kojack with a Kodak, Jack Webb fanboys looking for 'real life policework'. Fact is, its not all stick-time, it usually (more often) involves a Bic pen. Lots and lots of paperwork... (main reason why I bailed out - not worth the writers cramp, regs\SOPs, and hassles doing the job) If they want to search, you can respectfully decline after you ask for a reason. It gives you just that much more rebuttal in court (if it makes it there...) if they do (and find anything). If they want to search, they WILL find a reason (a traffic stop is not even close enough justification....) Basically, as long as you're polite and have manners, you won't have trouble if you JUST REMAIN SILENT per the 5th Amendment. You'd be surprised the jackholes whom shoot their mouths off, and get into a world of hurt, just because their egos and alligator mouths ove-road their humming bird behinds... Six 'Knockout' Attacks in New Haven, Connecticut
Society is crumbling - "Clockwork Orange: Connecticut Style". Oppressed by grammar Heh - yeah, micro-racism. Over thinking is a nice way to put it - what it really is "I'm lazy and stupid, but I think GREAT THOUGHTS and don't need no steekin' grammar to stand in my way". Morons. Krauthammer is correct, Dems will rue the day.
But so will we all. As much as this power will be abused by Dems today, it's going to be just as bad with Republicans. Even if we're 'sympathetic' to the Republican cause (as I am), I recognize that ideology is not consistent and I'm aware power corrupts. Given this power, nothing good can come from it, from either party. 'Rue the day'? By whom? The present form of the GOP? Fuhgeddaboudit, as they use nothing to their political advantage. Where are they right now on Immigration? On Obamacare? On anything that matters? The leadership says one thing and folks like Cruz something else and then the leaders take Cruz on instead of pounding away on the Dems.
I am done with the party. They deserve to lose. They deserve to be beaten on each and everything as they show no conviction on anything. That's kind've my point. The party is such a mess, when they have a shot at using this, it's going to get ugly.
The one thing you can count on is that the Dems will misuse this. But you know HOW they'll misuse it and you dislike how they'll misuse it. Republicans, when they get the chance (and they will), are so disjointed it's going to be a freaking free-for-all. You're going to hate it more because it's just going to be handing out candy to best friends, unqualified candidates, and quislings. I'm trying to increase my retirement nest egg so I have a Bet that will either double your money or mine. I'm betting that if the Democrats lose the Senate in 2014 that the lame duck Senate will reverse this before the Republicans take control of the Senate. However if I lose I am offerring a double or nothing bet that if the Democrats don't reverse it in a lame duck session that the Republicans, led by McCain and Graham, will. Any takers?
Sorry, no bet. I'm trying to keep my retirement!

Krauthammer and many others maybe forget that if Republicans ever tried anything even remotely like this, they'd be hung out to dry in a heartbeat by the media. They'd be crucified as we've all seen hundreds of times. They'd be waving the white flags within minutes.
Just look at history. U.S. as world's largest jailer has more to do with the U.S. having the world's largest African ethnic group outside of Africa itself.
The war on drugs provides cause to lock up a bunch of these violent uncivilized thugs. Ending the 'war on drugs' won't fix this huge socio-ethnic centric issue. So why isn't the knockout game prosecuted as a hate crime???
This one way only whites are racist and protection of the openly violent actual racist sons of Obama will reach a tipping point and it won't be pretty and it won't be good for the blacks who can't properly civilize or control their feral yutes. The knockout game certainly could be prosecuted as as hate crime. Why do they do it? Like most delinquent behavior, it is done because the delinquents have calculated they can get away with it. However, delinquents do not always get away with it.
QUOTE: WILX in Lansing reported that teenager Marvell Weaver, who is black, tried to knock out a father who was standing at a bus stop waiting for his daughter to arrive. Instead of simply punching the father, Weaver tried a variation on the "game" by trying to taze the man. The taser malfunctioned, and the father pulled a .40 cal handgun and shot the teenager twice. This tale does not exactly support the idea of taking guns out of the hands of common citizens, does it?Weaver admits to previously knocking out six or seven people on other days before targeting the man who shot him. He said being shot by the father at the bus stop was "a lesson learned." Weaver is now serving one year in jail. If Obama had a son, he would look like Marvell Weaver. Whoops, wrong story line...I'm confusing Weaver with Trayvon Martin.
Come to think of it, George Zimmerman's version of those events and the testimony of Travyon's cell-phone friend, Didi, sound a bit like a "knockout" was involved (those of us who are old enough might have called it a wilding back in the day). She said Trayvon was going to circle back to give George a bit of "whup-ass" if I remember correctly. Maybe George Z was telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth after all. A More True Systems Approach
Here is a very nice read to start your week--it may also provide some insight as to HOW both ideologies have failed, but more importantly it will provide an insight as to better solutions. Enjoy: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2013/11/vaclav-smil-wired/ As the Whigs failed to stand against the Democrats on the issue of slavery in the territories and quickly dissolved as a national party. So I hope that the many and repeated failures of nerve, vision or perseverance will as quickly lead to the modern Republicans falling away in favor of a new party that will be ready, willing and able to attack the ancient enemy.
The Anti-Democrats has a nice ring. The Anti-Slavery party would have a certain truth to it, because universal slavery is where we are heading. To strong? Then, Anti-Federalists. I hated Al Qaeda, but never feared them. Because they lacked the ability to cause any real damage to my country. But I fear the Federal Government which has already caused great damage to the country that I grew up in and could destroy me in a moment. The Patriot, Freedom, Liberty, etc. Party seems pretentious and too likely to be successfully co-opted by shadow Acorn affiliates. Better to pick something that the other side would never abide to shelter under. I kind of like, The Churchill-Reagan Party. But the Republican Party is clearly spent, and we must move quickly. or else this question will be decided on a battlefield in the near future. Ah! The challenge of slipping a url past the anti-spam robot.

The Churchill-Reagan Party. A while back, when I expressed the same complaint, a fellow commenter pointed out that adding verbiage after the link will do the trick The “Knockout Game” has been increasingly reported in cities in the United States. It is an unprovoked assault that appears to be motivated by malice, desire for Internet fame,...
Not mentioned in the article is that in cases elsewhere in the country, the victims have died from their attacks. If we decide to have a "new" party then it must be one that has the ring of truth to each individual issue in it's platform. Are you ready to say: immigration reform is really about managing an outrageous population bloom south of the border? Are you ready to state clearly that your party will not support any anti abortion legislation, BUT that you will support a bill to stop abortions after six months? Are you really ready to say . . . no middle of the road for you well then no new party for you either!
Is that your (confused) way of saying that immigration and abortion are your two hot button issues?
Many conservatives, old school Republicans and independents just want honesty and commitment to push back against the Progressive attacks on education, business and families. To allow the states the autonomy to be the laboratories of freedom they were intended to be. If the federal government hasn't proven it's complete incompetence to you by now, you're not paying attention. In retrospect does it seem to anyone else that Travon was playing the knockout game? He had talked about punchng people out to his friends.
Keep your memes straight; when a white (or white-hispanic) kills a black youth its the result of the racist and murderous "stand your ground" law, when a black youth punches anyone to the ground it's the "knockdown game" (even if the victim dies), when a group of black urban youths attack individual whites and beat the men or rape the women its "Wilding".
Saint Trayvon, patron of countless community programs, playgrounds and probably Operas was above playing games, even games as fun loving and harmless as the "knockdown game". I say, if someone is stupid enough to ignore, or want to ignore grammar, then that person should be allowed to demonstrate his/her ignorance/stupidity.
