We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Jeff Lynne is almost a necessary addition to any group with his addition of depth, rhythm, and complexity to instruments with strings. He would make even me sound good. And nobody can compete with Roy. Even Elvis envied him. He is just too much. George has good taste on guitar, too. RIP, you two wonderful guys who enriched our lives.
What a Supergroup, just good guys having fun with tunes, with Bob always a humble minor player: "I've been f-ed up, and I've been a fool..." Indeed.
It took me a long time to realize how amazing Roy Orbison's voice was. Now, I almost spend the entire song (and the other TW songs) waiting for Roy's vocal parts! He is missed!
They were good because they loved music and took their talents as far as they could go. Another addition to the Wilbury library is their cover of Dell Shannon's Runaway.
Jeff Lynne is much-underappreciated artist. I happened to be watching the animation "Megamind" with my son and on comes the ELO song "Mr. Blue Sky" as part of the soundtrack, and I hauled out some old ELO stuff and enjoyed it all over again.
