We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Agreed, Jim. One wonders why the GOP doesn't offer repeal again? Go on record once again on how bad the law is.
I fear the band-aid approach they are advocating in the House will blow up in their faces. I am afraid they will be out maneuvered by the dems with the end result giving vulnerable dems an escape hatch while making themselves look like they are for the ACA.
Even the tech guys say its heavily optimistic to say the website would be fixed by 30 NOV. From their analytical review (what's been posted on developers blogs et al), Best case - a total re-write\redo. Worse case - play whack-a-mole with every problem they find.
One guy left me in hysterics - "When I looked at the code, I realized my 5 year old could work it better".
Who were these bozos that were hired to cause this train-wreck...? Probably political friends of friends of friends....
Even if Congress acts quickly, it is probably impossible for insurance companies to "keep" those plans available for another year. Compliance, systems, billing, pricing, state compliance - no way can you do it all in a couple weeks.
Republicans should NOT cooperate on the fixes. This thing doesn't work. Let it fail until they can repeal it.
Omamacare is a fraud on the American people. The president sold it by using fraud to sell it. The programmers committed fraud by offering the HHS a bad preforming product. (Insurance companies have better online sign up web sites. All the programmers had to do was copy one and expand it.)
This new offer by the president may or may not be legal but would you trust your care to a policy that may be declared illegal at any time? Can the insurance Companies even reinstate the old policies in their computer systems? can they even waive their cancelation notices? What are the contract terms that allow all of this? the president further defraudes the citizens with his proposal to delay for one year by holding out hope that things can return to a former condition. It took three years of programming to get to this point, What Difference will one additional year make?
I can tell you what the problem is from decades of experience in IT for the government. Multiple late and missed deadlines from the design team which results in less time available for the development team. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians. Inadequate, confusing and contradictory requirements. Multiple and even endless changes to the design right up to the day of implementation. Inadequate and/or incapable leadership. Multiple "bosses" with no clear lines of authority. Outsiders to the process with veto power. Unnecessary and even destructive requirements usually from someone very high on the chain of power but totally outside of the IT department with zero understanding of the process and capabilities of the system. Too many worker bees who were hired for their diversity rather then their ability to program.
Why are we not discussing impeachment? Lies upon lies, fraud, legislating from the Oval Office. The vote today to undo the undoable is silly. Let the people inform their "representatives" that they simply won't take any more from this clueless buffoon. We the people voted him and his cronies in...let's, using the Constitution, vote him out the door. My children, and yours, deserve no more than another 10 minutes, let alone 3 years of this death spiral we're apparently in.
