Are pedophiles "born that way"?

The American Psychiatric Association is confused about the PC answer to that question. It must be difficult to be both multiculturally-sensitive and yet PC in the American way, given that pedophilia seems quite accepted in Muslim areas along with recreational homosexuality, rape, etc.

It's the elephant in the room that everyone wants to ignore. If homosexual people are born that way (as opposed to a combination of nature and nurture), then the same surely must be the same for pedophiles.

As a sexual orientation, pedophiles would become a protected class under most discrimination laws, and under ENDA, the proposed federal law that would add homosexuals and transgenders to the list of protected classes entitled to preference in hiring, etc. (i.e., can't discriminate means you must hire them over other equally qualified candidates).

This is the topic no gay activist wants to talk about. They think it is crazy talk. What they don't realize, though, is if they set up the laws to their advantage, others will come sliding in. Like the pedophiles and necrophiliacs and animal 'lovers' of all shapes and sizes. And we won't be able to stop them.

What about the current laws against sex offenders? What will happen when these non-discrimination laws for gays start rolling out? Don't you think pedophiles of all types will start filing claims of discrimination?

It's not going to be pretty. If you are 'born that way' and can't help your sexual orientation/desires, then you must accept ALL forms of sexual deviance. Scary.

Yes, we're all "born that way". It's called being a sinner. We all choose whether we're slaves to sin or slaves to Christ. All you get to do in this life is choose your master.

It was a huge mistake to ever allow homosexuals to claim that they were denied civil rights based on their homosexuality. Civil rights need to be limited, otherwise everything becomes a right and the term becomes meaningless. I keep asking what civil rights homosexuals were denied - especially given that no one need know you are are a homosexual unless you make that information public. The "right" to marry is often the response, but no one, heterosexual or homosexual was permitted to marry someone of the same sex, so how were homosexuals treated differently? Besides, marriage is a privilege, at least in the US - that's why a license is required. This will never end.

Correct. Because every "right" given to a privileged group takes away many more rights from the rest of us.

If you were born that way there will be a gene or genes to reflect "that way". Where is the gene? If there is no gene then it is environment, or learned behavior if you wish.
