Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Jacob Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies of Northeastern Illinois University plaque This Building is dedicated to Public Service honoring the memory of Abraham Lincoln Democrat Is this the result or the cause of the decline in the humanities? I wonder if someone should tell them that the Republican party was the "Tea Party" of the 1850s? At last the Whig party died and the Republican was born. This party was opposed to the further extension of slavery. The Democratic party of the South wished to make the "divine institution" national while the Democrats of the North wanted the question decided by each territory for itself. I used instead of []

So, we how have the category of "political lies", i.e. the need to lie to help those ungracious helots. Diversity training for mocking the President, next up three hour self criticisms while in the airplane position. Lets wait to see the Trumbo movie before deciding its crap. His disillusion and purge from the CPUSA might be a major part or not. Though wonder if Reds will be re-released. "The left is trying to rehabilitate Karl Marx".
There is something inexplicable in the left that embraces Che Guevara, Karl Marx, Fidel Castor, Hugo Chavez, etc. These are the same people who shut down Ray Kelly and applaud Obama's foray into Karl Marx care. When you talk to many of these people they are often clueless to the fact the KKK was formed by Democrats or that it was the Democrats who embraced slavery and racial discrimination in the South after slavery. Is it just coincidence that in this same Maggie's Farm post we have a link to "the less you know, the more certain you are"? The poster boy for this is of course Obama. If by now you still don't believe his treason and anti-Americanism is intentional then surely you will agree that he is incredibly incompetent and intentionally blind to the obvious. The Kenyan Keynesian is destroying our economy with his economic policies, he is chipping away at the military and he is using executive orders to do what the constitution and democracy won't let him do. What is his end game? Will the country survive it? I do not understand this fascination with ideas, such as Marx's, even from those who purportedly reject them. Marxism goes against human nature, an immovable force. At least when using force, Christianity worked to influence men's souls and had some success. Another nail in the humanities mythology.
I studied Physics and a bit of Chemistry, we did not waste time on Alchemy regardless of the famous names who promoted it. It goes against nature and so is worthy only as a small footnote on how ignorant some of the best minds and best universities were in the past. Marxism is not unlike Alchemy so why pray tell is it still so prominent in the Liberal Arts curriculum? A lot of people in the Humanities cannot accept the limitations of human nature, and despise it. They likewise cannot accept the idea that human life (including theirs) is bracketed by hard boundaries that cannot be erased or exceeded.
Marxists, Fascists and the like think power and will can alter or erase those limitations; especially will. Many intellectuals remain fascinated by totalizing systems of power for this reason, and do not mind the implied coercion and social engineering because they despise human nature to begin with. So, for example, they wear their Che t-shirts and explain away his crimes and eliminationist tendencies.* But they adore that kind of power and its casual disregard for moral or legal limits. They are like tiny Fausts hoping to hitch their wagon to a Big Faust. *If WWII had gone differently, Fascists would get the same respect from them, as Fascists did before that war. If not Adolph (he went to far - like Mao and Stalin) you would see Franco or Duce shirts. Walt M., at least they weren't rodeo clowns.
GWTW, the left so loooooooves their mass murderers. Well, maybe not all; anyone seen a Pol Pot T-shirt? Oh, I expect they'd wear them a Pol Pot t-shirt but people would think they were just celebrating the choom gang.
Che is losing his cache, I fear. A few months ago, a SciFi show made a joke about him. The younger girl made a joke about being Che to a group of kids, the older asked if she even knew who that was. Response "Guy who wears a beret, makes t-shirts for angry youth" It was hilarious. The leftist controlling philosophy is "the environment controls behavior". if the environment (housing, food, income, air, water, forests, etc were made better, individuals would act better and have better lives. Therefore housing programs for the poor, regulate kinds of food we eat, no smoking (except of pot), more education, climate control, etc.etc.etc. The opposite philosophy is self-control and leftists hate it. People can only change if they change themselves. It is far easier to blame the environment for your problems than make the effort to change your self. Leftists recognize this environ-control philosophy operating in dictators and muslims and therefore find fellow travellers and agreement. Blick
Multiple choice quiz. You are shown a picture of a toilet and you have to guess the country it is located. For those with too much time on their hands. I got 6 out of 10.

I wonder if someone in the film industry will have the courage to make a film about the communists in academia? Those people who easily and without hesitation destroyed careers, threatened lives, stalked, stole and terrorized because they could--there was no one in the legal community to challenge them, and no one in the media to try to expose them. In short there was NO ONE to stop them. Why not Barrister? Why is there NO--NONE--in the legal field who will take them on in the courtroom? Is it because you want your children and grandchildren to be able to attend a good university without being blacklisted themselves because the parent defended the innocent and exposed these people? I had an insight the other day--probably not a new idea: the trouble with pacifism is this: you tell yourself that if you do no harm--you are not required to step forward and do something in an aggressive way for the victim. Something like this: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil, do nothing extraordinary for good. Correction: My apologies to the Barrister. I did not intend to suggest you are a coward. On the contrary you personally are doing courageous work with F.I.R.E, etc. I intended to ask the question about why is there not more attorneys in every community ready to take on these people?
