We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
other than the knee jerk reaction of the warmists to any form of hydrocarbon energy, there are those whose fortunes depend on electric cars, solar this and that, batteries and those who depend on selling us their oil.
Don't forget the Greenies - they are AGAINST ANYTHING that could impact Gaia, in ANY FORM.
So, even taking a good old constitutional, makes Ma Terra pain, I guess... I'm for keeping the joint as clean as possible (its the only one we got....), but, you gotta be able to live and thrive also.
Nihilism is not the natural state of human kind...
No need to find derangement and mental disorders - when such glaring cases present themselves under their own power.
You're kidding, right? It's an existential knife in the gut to anyone who hoped there would be no cheap, efficient alternative to the approved green initiatives. Look at all those people producing a valuable product, hiring workers, and making local economies bloom. Don't you see how those newly prosperous people are going to VOTE? How are we going to bribe them with subsidies if they get used to the idea that they're better off making the private sector prosperous? How are we going to persuade them to opt for union and public-sector jobs when they see employers scrambling to offer good enough terms to persuade free workers to stay in private jobs?
I'm completely on board. EXCEPT for spills.
That doesn't mean I'm opposed, just that most of what people are really complaining about are the holding pools of chemicals, some of which have seeped into the ground, some of which has spilled.
Problem is the green movement has been successful in turning all this into "fracking spoils your water" (not if proper precautions prevent spills) and "fracking sets your water on fire" (no, you could do that in some parts of PA while I was growing up - it's the gas coming out with the water).
They've successfully scared people to oppose something that, if protocol is followed, is perfectly safe.
These people LOVE and WANT the EPA. But when the EPA tells them it's OK - they feel the EPA has been bought and sold (which, by the way, is precisely why I don't want the EPA, because it IS regularly bought and sold). The hypocrisy is thick with these folk.
Essentially the problem to the left is the same problem that geocentrism presented to the powerful church in the 1600's. That is it refutes their beliefs and threatens their power. Beware the return of the inquisition.
And we have the Inquisition, the Media dogs carefully listening for any hint of non politically correct speech or action. From expressing a heretical thought, such as "Not all abortion is justified" to actions as allowing children to be given and play with toy guns. Do that and you'll feel the heat.
I hate the word "fracking" as much as "pink slime' and for the same reason, its a made up word by someone in the media to deride and mold public opinion by emotion not reason.
"hydraulic fracturing" is paying back the debt we owe the present and the future for the wealthy, warm world we grew up in. Those who drilled in the old style, in our youth, provided for us and we are what we are now because of it. Do we really want our grandchildren to shiver in the cold when the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow. Or when this nation is so poor that we can no longer afford the expensive rare earth elements needed for this "Green" technology.
