We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
We have a small piece such as this--only a couple of acres. We inherited it--no building yet. Hope to get a retirement cabin there soon. But, in the meantime DH built a solid plain and beautifully strong and true bridge over the little creek. So clean. It's perfectly placed. But, what I will always love the most is this:
every time he goes down the trail to that creek he picks up a rock or two and places them alongside of the bank--it has had a miraculous effect. The creek is clearer and the water deeper--we now have trout and most importantly we have riffles: soft, discernible, perfectly placed--and thus perfectly tuned, humming sweetly riffles! Now, if he must go first I will be able to hear his voice.
