We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Between the North Pole turning into a gorgeous lake, sunbathers happily getting their tans in the Arctic Circle and now this, it's hard to find an aspect of life that global warming isn't enhancing. Go, AGW, go!
Great to hear, waiting for McIntosh's to arrive from my uncle in Vermont. They don't seem to carry, here in Florida, anything but the smallest ones that come in a 3 lb bag.
I saw an article on Accuweather or perhaps The Weather Channel site saying as much about apples. Sadly, it apparently is going to be a poor year for pumpkins as planting was delayed due to excessive rains in June.
"a poor year for pumpkins"
Well, yes, both the spring and summer seasons got off to slow starts this year (lost far too many 'maters. Bummer), but while squash (including pumpkins) are a bit smaller so far, they should taste quite good (largish softer squash look great for decoration, but tend to taste rather bland)
