We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A Sherwood family Bible (ancestors from Greenwich, CT). Congregationalists, like almost everybody in New England at the time. Somebody scribbled comments on some of the NT verses.
My paternal grandfather, since he was the oldest surviving male in the line, had the family bible dating from 1765. I saw it numerous times as a child since it had pride of place in the home. It had been brought over with whomever it was that crossed the Atlantic to GA and then AL in 1795. Lost in a house fire.
Small world. My family is a branch of the Sherwoods from CT. It runs up through Amos Sherwood (both of them) to Thomas. Amos the younger left CT for upstate NY, and then his son Harvey went to MI, to farm apples. I'd love to share notes on the family history, if it's the same lineage. I'm just starting to poke around the various family trees.
