We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The shrinking private sector is hopefully just a wrongheaded projection of the trend of the last 4-5 years. Something else happened over those years as well, I wonder if it could offer enlightenment on the matter?

However, for decades, oddly, aligned with the rapid expansion of the regulatory state and we shouldn't neglect risk-adverse education, our economic volatility has been down. And that impacts the creation and survival of young businesses, where most of the job growth comes from.

How utterly un-ironic that the policies of the Left and Obama promote the growth of large corporate interests while suppressing the formation of new businesses even more than in prior years. Newspeak: Corporations are bad so let's make them a bigger part of the economy....

A few days ago I was reading this interview, the whole thing is interesting so I recommend clicking thru to the full interview but the latter questions of business formation are informative:

Don't you find it strange that the only two government programs where the beneficiaries specifically pay into it are always attacked but the totally free programs are, well, totally free. If Medicare is underfunded the possible solutions are to increase the Medicare tax, increase the co-pay, or decide it is important enough to subsidize. But it seems the left wants to cut Medicare but not any of the 2400 federal welfare programs or reduce the 2,100,000 federal employees to reduce the budget. Or perhaps what this is all about is the amount of money spent to care for really old people. Who was that who said that the left wanted death panels?

It is best for transgender youth to get their supplements and surgery earlier, before their bodies has a chance to convince their minds they are the wrong gender.

I welcome the scientific control of human nature, and I can say without irony that I hope that all children of Obama voters aspire to the best in their natures and choose to control their own genders, then take massive amounts of drugs and surgery.

That’s very generous considering the source of much of the persecution during which the Jews enjoyed the consolations of their faith.

Given Genesis 12:3 ("I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee”) have many millennia of homosexual priests, molester priests, and mafia priests will God inflict on the Catholic church for the curses inflicted on the Jews?
